Member before it was pay, paid the first year, lapsed, but lurked the whole time.
Me too, and it is kinda creepy, isn’t it? After “eavesdropping” on the Dopers’ conversations for several years I’ll have to force myself not to be overly familiar when I finally jump in to a thread. “Didn’t you once say you used to live in Boston?” or whatever will sound strange coming from a lurker like me who can’t even remember when she joined!
I’m glad to see that Lamia is back. She was the Western Woman to my Charisma Man.

This is me, except for the lurking. Honest to Og- Last night, on a whim, I got to thinking about the SDMB, so I popped in to see if I could log in. Lo and behold, it was possible.
I haven’t even visited since 2006. It’s nice to see that a lot of the same posters are around. 
I’ve been lurking for the past 3-4 years off and on. There’s been a few times I really wanted to post something, but I held off because what if later there was something more important that I wanted to post after my 30 days expired? And I was a college student those past years and didn’t really have the money for the fee.
I will probably continue to lurk for the most part, because well, it’s weird how I’ve been reading what everyone’s said, but no one knows who I am.

I started reading the forums regularly after the “Wally tries cybersex” thread was linked on the main page. I signed up to post in a thread about children’s books but posted sporadically at best, mostly about hockey and punk rock. I have been enjoying following the US election chatter in Great Debates.
I also got addicted to pimpwar after initially participating in a sdmb alliance some posters put together.
Not really lurking, but visited again and now. And accidentally found out it was no longer paid.
Already made myself known in the Pit, but might as well jump on this bandwagon.
Joined in '99; paid up, melted down and bolted in 2004. Got busted for lurking and dumped the SDMB cold turkey, then got wind last spring from former Doper (and now second-time Doper widow) Anniz that it was going free again, changed my password even though I swore I was never coming back, then started lurking a week or so ago.
