I’ve only been absent for about six months but haven’t been very prolific for years and just didn’t care enough to reup the last time.
It’s nice to be able to post again.
I joined in '99, but never posted that much. It got to the point where I couldn’t justify the $15 for the paltry contribution I made, and I could still read and enjoy.
But I am excited to be able to pipe up when I do actually have something to add to a discussion other than “me too!”

I didn’t bother to re-up after the first year, but have lurked occasionally. There really is no other message board out there quite like this place.

I don’t remember at all when I joined, 2002 maybe? I was still in high school! Posting feels strange.
Been lurking one or two years. Got a guest pass in July, when there was talk of turning it free. I hope this makes the first page.
Well, I’m glad that’s over.
I used to be 2trew, way back when, but that name’s already taken and I can’t for the life of me remember which e-mail address I used to set it up, so I’m just going to work on an elaborate story about how my username has changed to reflect my evolution as a person. Or, possibly, be banned as a sock. Either way, it’s nice to be back.
I joined before the boards went pay-to-post and then ended up just reading. I would’ve registered but I had some trouble with the payment methods as neither really worked for me.
Used to post some a long time back. Left, went elsewhere. I’m a bit like Thylacine, upthread; never did post much.
Paid for one year, didn’t renew. Due to my time zone, most of the interesting things get said before I have the chance to join a good thread, so it didn’t seem worth.
I did continue to read, however, and I am very up-to-date on the happenings around here.
I also paid for the first year of pay-to-post, then didn’t renew. (Seems to be a bit of a minor theme!). I had a new job, and was very much enjoying living in Tampa. I have been lurking quite a bit, though.
I haven’t been lurking here the whole time, but it’s been quite a while… Signed up for a guest membership without realising that meant you still couldn’t search and found I didn’t really have much to say. [Pauses for the howls of laughter from people who know me at such a statement.]
Anyway, seems rude not to say hi, given how much entertainment I’ve had from reading you all over the years, so hi!

There’ll be more lurking out there. I lurked for a long loooong time. Possibly six years or more. Every now and again I had wanted to post, but never really had a strong enough opinion to voice it. Felt like I was reading other people’s mail all the time, so I dived in with a reply in a silly GQ thread about whether Australians ski, then I paid up and joined fer real. Now it all feels nice and legal. Still don’t have much to say though.
