Until a couple days ago when looking at the first post in a list of threads, mousing over would display the first couple lines of the post. This is no longer happening and looking through Settings I didn’t find anything that looked like it might have been accidentally changed. Am I missing a setting or has Discourse been updated? I’d like it back.
Which browser & device are you on and which theme are you using? What you see depends critically on those facts.
And the themes are updated regularly without notice.
For my device (Edge on Windows 10) and my theme (Discourse-classic) there is no change. The previews work as always.
Firefox, Windows 10, Vincent theme, regular laptop. Still working fine for me.
It works from an individual forum page, like FQ or MPSIMS. It doesn’t work from the master list. The change happened a couple of weeks ago.
Laptop, Win10, Firefox, Straight Dope Light
Edit: And now it’s back. Switched to Vincent, didn’t like it, switched back to SDL, and it’s back. Something must have been jiggered, during an update, perhaps.
By “master list,” do you mean listed per forum? Because I tend to use ‘Latest,’ and it highlights from that master list for me.
SDL got borked a few weeks ago where several things were wrong with it. Then it got fixed later. I suspect your machine had cached the defective version and that’s what you’d been looking at / through.
When SDL got borked I switched to Discourse-classic. My thinking being that since it wasn’t SDMB-unique, it’d be more likely to be both fully-featured and well-maintained. So far that’s been true and I have no reason to switch back to SDL.
All the stuff that’s meant to sorta mimic SDMB’s vBulletin look seems to me like training wheels I no longer need. I can now take my Discourse neat.
