I knew him back when he was Phil N. DeBlanque.
Likewise, I’m sure.
Maybe it’s Morse code. From Googling, 4 dashes in Morse code represents ‘ch’.
Dash? From Eerie, Indiana?
Can we call you “-” for short?
J/k, j/k. Some of us here (like me) have pretty juvenile senses of humor.
Just start a thread. Call it ‘Dash’s Documentary Thread’ or something. Write something like this:
This thread is for documentaries I’ve seen, and which I like so much that I want to share them. I’ll post my thoughts, and I hope you will post yours.
I’ll start off with The Memphis Belle - A Story Of A Flying Fortress (1944). Directed by William Wilder, it is the story of the first B-17 to complete 25 missions in WWII… [and so on]
And then post a few things you find interesting about it.
Some people will respond, and you’ll have a discussion. You can post a thread for each documentary you want to discuss, or you can do ‘Dash’s Omnibus Documentary Thread’ where you just add different documentaries as you wish to share them.
No need to imbed an actual video, as most people are capable of clicking on a link.
Nice tips, Johnny. I appreciate it.
And I understand that “most people are capable of clicking on a link”, yes.
Yes, will start work on it tomorrow. I hope to see y’all around the site, and thanks kindly.
I prefer to think of him as MM.
Thanks, guys and gals. If there was going to be a problem, it’s always better to get it out of the way in the beginning. See you around the board!
I’m not a moderator or anything, just a long time poster. If you’re wondering why actual videos and pics are not displayed here it’s because:
[ol]
[li]They use up net bandwidth unnecessarily.[/li]
[li]They add tons of fluff & clutter to your screen with little to no benefit.[/li][/ol]
The prime directive of this board is ‘fighting ignorance’ thru the use of clear and concise language and facts. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, but not here. At least not when a simple link can suffice…
Already got my answer, and the thread is going. I haven’t any interest in trying to change anyone’s mind about how the site is run. I like it, a lot.
But didn’t see this reply, and just wanted to give a quick response:
Isn’t it true that youtube tags use youtube resources? Perhaps I’m mistaken about how that works.
Like images (including avatars), they add competition for your eyes against the advertising banner, you mean.
But all 100% fair. This place is good and it’s worth it. So that’s that.
They only use YouTube resources if you click on them. And the more traffic YouTube gets the more money YouTube makes*!* And no, I don’t think distracting from advertising banners is a huge concern. I think a lot or most of those here use Chrome or Firefox and don’t ever see banner ads anyway. Plus this site charges a modest yearly membership fee to offset costs. This forum is about ‘just the facts’, we don’t need no stinkin’ pictures*!!!*
Interesting info, HA! Thank you.
