My girlfriend was using this computer a few hours ago and a search reveals that it’s the email address of one of her English professors.

I have half a book from Project Gutenberg on it. I don’t think the mods will appreciate that much text in this post. It’s been modified for my text to speech reader. Here’s the first paragraph.
We crossed the court of the water of life and mounted steps
That led to a wide and impressive portico, tommy frisking ahead
Of us in a most excited way for a dog of his experience.
Evidently the water had produced its effect upon him as well as
Upon his masters. This portico was in a solemn style of
Architecture which i cannot describe, because it differed from
Any other that i know. It was not egyptian and not greek,
Although its solidity reminded me of the former, and the beauty
And grace of some of the columns, of the latter. The profuseness
And rather grotesque character of the carvings suggested the
Ruins of mexico and yucatan, and the enormous size of the blocks
Of stone, those of peru and baalbec. In short, all the known
Forms of ancient architecture might have found their inspiration
Here, and the general effect was tremendous.

Hi, all,

Here’s a list of the conference times for next week. Please double-check your time, and let me know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule or if you still need to sign up for a time slot.

If I were posting from home I’d probably have something much more interesting.

"March 19, 2008, 6:30 p.m.

Bridgetown, Barbados

I know what you’re thinking. “Are these old codgers
in bed already??” Well no, not really. We are resting
up for a trip to the restaurant after a hot steamy
day in Bridgetown. We’re both so sunburned from 5
continuous days in the sun, we are absolutely worn out.
(You are now saying…‘ahh that’s just toooooo bad’
aren’t you).

We slept in until 8:00 this morning. Went to the
Garden café for a nice leisurely breakfast. I was a bit
disappointed because they were out of ‘thinly sliced
smoke salmon’, but I made up for it by having two
biscuits with gravy and an extra eggs benedict…I showed
them… Ginni always gets an omelet, and I think
they must use 4 eggs in them, because I honestly think
two people could get fed on them.

We didn’t go ashore right away because we hadn’t
planned any excursions other than wandering around town.
When we did get off we took the shuttle bus down the
pier to the main port exit. They have built a very nice
tourist trap mall right at the end of the pier and
you have to enter on one end and go to the other end,
make a turn and go back to the other end before you can
exit the building. A vendors dream if I ever saw one.

Once out of the building, we ran the gauntlet of taxi
drivers and tour guide offers and made our way to
town. It is about a half hour (at our pace) to town, but
it is along a nicely designed shoreline parkway.

Once in town, we managed to get off the main drag,
which was full of tourists (3 ships in port at the same
time), and found a boardwalk area along the waterfront.
It took us into a part of town that had a couple
squares and the Barbados Parliament building. The guards
at the gate told us that it is the oldest parliament
building in the western hemisphere, at over 300 years
old.

We wandered our way into old city, where there were
street vegetable markets and what I call odds and ends
vendors all over. Managed to find a KFC of all things
in the middle of all this, so we stopped and had a
Pepsi. I was beginning to feel the heat, and the Pepsi
helped me get back to normal. We did a bit more
wandering, then found our way back to the boardwalk, then to
the parkway and headed back to the ship.

We got back here about 1:00, dropped our stuff in the
cabin and went looking for food. We sat up on deck
for a while. I edited some of my photos and Ginni read.
About 4:00 I came down and tried to edit more photos
but ended up falling asleep.

The captain just came on the overhead and said that
this evening we would be experiencing some long swells.
I just felt us roll thru one. This could be a fun
evening. Up until now we haven’t even noticed we were
moving, as the seas have been running anywhere from 1
to 4 feet, which for a ship of this size is like
sailing on glass. We are going to go to dinner about 7:30
this evening, then if nature will allow might go to
the deck party.

WHOOA, baby just took a nice roll…guess the
captain knew what he was talking about.

It’s now 10:37 p.m… We have returned from a show by
one of the crew of the Jean Ann Ryan troupe. She’s an
up and coming singer. We managed to snag one of the
lounge divans at the back and watched from a prone
position most of the time. As soon as the show ended we
came back here to the cabin, put together all the
things we need for our tour in the morning, took all our
pills, and hit the sack. We have to get up at 6:30 in
the morning so we can be sure to be ready to go ashore
as soon as the gangway opens. Our tour starts at
8:30, and the ship isn’t due to arrive until 8:00. I have
a feeling they will give us a few minutes leeway if
we aren’t there on the dot.

The ship isn’t rocking too badly, but occasionally it
feels as though we hit a chuck hole, and everything
shudders. Just as long as she doesn’t start slipping n
sliding…that’s a sure recipe for sea sickness.

Gotta catch some z’s. See ya tomorrow."

My in-laws were on vacation and somehow didn’t email my hubby.

  1. Were you a heavy (1 pack cigs or more a day) smoker?
  2. How long has it been since you quit?
  3. What caused you to quit?
  4. Do you still crave tobacco and smoking?
  5. If you do still crave, how often do you think about it?
  6. If you do still crave, what helps you get over it?
  7. Do you feel that you may someday fall off the wagon?
