Post your dental status

I just got back from the dentist, so I had the idea of posting starting a thread about how many fillings, cavities, etc we all have.

I have 12 fillings, 2 steel crowns, and 17 more cavities needing to be filled. I know, I should brush better.

How many do you have?

I have no more wisdom teeth, and I think I have two filled cavities. I should floss more. Fortunately, I was born with good teeth. They’re not straight and snow white, but they’re very strong.

I have had only one filling though I have another to be filled sooner or later. I also have braces on the top of my teeth to straighten up some “leaners” and my wisdom teeth are coming out this summer.

I’ve had 2 root canals (only 1 neeed a crown though) and my filling are… innumberable. I’m sure there isn’t a tooth in my head that doesn’t have at least 2.

No cavities for a whole year! A record!

My dentist makes an OMG face when I tell her I have the best teeth in my whole family (bad genetics, bad!)

The Man have you tried prescription-strength toothpaste? The brand name is Prevident but there are also generics available (they don’t taste as good, I can tell you from experience).

Your dentist can write the prescription.

No cavities. I have never used braces because I didn’t need them for any other reason that cosmetic, and even then, my bite is good, my teeth line up correctly, and you only see the imperfections if you look really close (which nobody does). All of this was said by my pediatric dentist who I trust more than anyone I’ve had since. Other dentist since him has said that I could have braces, but again as a cosmetic thing. He also wanted to fill my teeth ridges. Apparently I have deep ridges, my 18+ years, I decided not to fix what isn’t broken.

I have all my teeth, including the wisdom teeth (2 haven’t come out, 2 are partially out). I probably won’t take them because the X-ray showed that they’re aligned correctly. The main concern is space, and the dentist said that he would prefer to take out the teeth I already have out than to poke around to take out 4 perfectly good growing teeth. I’ll probably get another X-ray and determine if there has been any change since the previous one. If my bite or something becomes affected with it, I’ll take them out, until then I leave them alone.

I also need to floss more.

42, no cavities ever. 1 Qualuud induced cap on left incisor. Not perfectly straight, wisdom teeth crowding them.

Remember the episode of the Simpsons where Lisa befriends the aging Jazz man? Remember his name and how he got it?

That’s about my dental status.

Fagjunk Theology: Not just for sodomite propagandists anymore.

I’m not sure how many fillings I have…one when I was little, 2 before I started college and a bunch (8-10 at least) over a three week perios last summer before I lost dental insurance.

Root canals: 5, all with crowns

All 4 wisdom teeth removed

No braces, but they’d like me to go see an orthodontist with the potential for getting braces - my back teeth lean in pretty significantly, and they think this may be what’s lead to some of my cavities.

I brush, I floss - but I got the same tendency towards weak teeth as my aunt. I suppose I’ll need to go to the dentist again in the fall, when I have dental insurance again.

I have never been to the dentist. I have all my teeth, and have had no cavities.

The last time I went to the dentist, I had to get my wisdom teeth- all four of them- chopped out of my poor mouth. Used to go every six months, but haven’t been in about three years.

I have a back tooth that aches just a little, from time to time, but I’m putting off going back.

I have a phobia. I can’t go to the dentist unless someone forcibly takes me and he gives me a sedative, and then lets me listen to music through headphones. Even then, I still cry 99% of the treatment.

I have bad teeth. I’m sure there’s a correlation.

I have 4 fillings from my youth, and a few years ago I got them all replaced with that tooth colored resin so it looks like I have none. I have had 1 root canal (w/crown), and a crown on a tooth that broke. I had a gap between my front teeth as a child, but I got that fixed when I was six - they cut some tendon and wired my two front teeth together. This was right after my permanent teeth came in, so with that procedure my teeth are gapless. I never had braces. I had only one wisdom tooth, and I had that yanked a few years ago when it finally started giving me problems.

I don’t really mind going to the dentist, paying for it is another story.

25 y/o. never had a cavity. wisom teeth came in w/o incident, no root canl. Only have hardcore tartar!

I’ve had 5 cavities, mostly baby. My six front teeth are a bit crooked and are 3 different lengths (doesnt look nearly as bad as it sounds), so I’m thinking of getting that fixed. I haven’t been to a dentist in a while…and one of my front bottom teeth is a little loose and sometimes hurts, which means I probably should go. I’ve always had horrible teeth, though, so I’m not very surprised.

One cavity. Well, there’s 4 more, but they’re all in my wisdom teeth. Next week, two of them come out. Then two weeks thereafter, the other two.

I’m not looking forward to that. Planned two afternoons off to get it over with. :frowning:

But in fairness, once these bastards are gone, my teeth are in good condition. My dentist gives me crap for not flossing enough (about once a week, maybe, which is futile), and not brushing enough (once or twice a day, should be three), but even at 30, they show no real sign of wear.

My wisdom tooth on the upper right gumline is hanging off a bit. My aunt says I need to have it out before it crowds out my other teeth.

Other than that, perfect. I have great teeth, they’re one of my best features. My dentist weeps with joy when I visit him because they’re always so strong and healthy.

.:Nichol:.

Lost count on the cavities, since all of mine are filled with composite (the tooth-colored filling).

Had to have 10 permanent teeth pulled (including my wisdoms).

Had braces.

Had professional whitening.

Teeth are now very straight and white.

I’m 32, just came home with braces the other day after years of contemplation. They’re clear with a white wire.

Most people didn’t realize I needed braces but I knew I did. I have one year of this then I go to invisalign. I can’t wait already.

I need two root canals and one of them possibly crowned.

I could use braces but I am just as scared of them now as I was when I was 16. I have had two cavities filled. My dentist tells me that I am going to have to have my wisdom teeth pulled sometime, but they aren’t coming in yet so we aren’t worried about it.

(My xrays show that I only have two wisdom teeth. How cool is that??)

Same here. And I brush every day. But I need a root canal, and probably an extraction-one tooth that needed to be root canalled has crumbled so much it’s beyond repair. I have chipped fillings, and I need a bridge and a few caps.

And I think it’s just genetics. I take care of my teeth, and I don’t have GROSS teeth. But just really painful ones. Lately, it hurts even to fucking BRUSH my teeth. The one tooth has a partially chipped filling, and whenever the bristles hit, it hurts. When I get toothpaste on it, it starts to sting like you wouldn’t believe.

:frowning:

I DON’T WANNA HAVE TO GET DENTURES BEFORE I’M THIRTY!!!
