Post your SDMB miracles

I posted this and didn’t get a time out.

I found a cite explaining the Whole Nine Yards.

Syntax error went unnoticed in GQ thread.

My poor doggie survived his burns.

That idiot who posted that nonsense actually took the correction given and applied it.

Someone said he/she was religious and wasn’t told what a dumbass he/she was.

Someone said he was a conservative and wasn’t told what a dumbass he was.

Someone said he was for/against gun control and wasn’t told what a dumbass he was.

Diva Cup.

A long thread was posted discussing animal husbandry. My name never came up.

I haven’t been banned yet.

Somebody was gonna say it.

“Powerhouse” by Raymond Scott.

Ooh a chance to tell my favorite internet story ever. It started with an episode of The Simpsons. There is an episode of the show where Otto shows up with a swim mobile, hilarity ensues, the end. My wife mentioned how it would be cool if there really were such things. I tell her as a kid in Detroit I had been in one many times to charges of “bullshit” which prompts a search for a picture of a real swim mobile. I’m not sure if I started a thread or posted to a different thread here, but Dopers being dopers someone linked to picture of one in about 12 seconds. Here’s the kicker, said picture is a picture of one of my younger brothers my stepfather and I.

I suppose this would be the worst thread to point out that it should be “younger brothers my stepfather and me.” Jeesh!

What’s a swim mobile?

It’s been a year and nobody’s asked how the mouse was able to survive in liquid in The Abyss.

I was looking through some old threads of 1999 to find my first post and I saw someone posting what “14 k of g in a f p d” means and how it would make a neat riddle for bar trivia. I lost the link though.

::shaking angry fist at Arnold Winkelried::

“f p d” is “flat panel display”. The O.P. in question was confused about another guy’s inept abbreviations. The original was asking about using gold instead of copper in high end electronics. As audiophiles know, high end cables are sometimes coated with gold. So the phrase is a reference to the cables in an HD TV. “14 karats of gold in a flat panel display”

How’s that for a miracle? I solved the damn thing.

A thread about bicycles in which nobody comes in to mention that bikers are assholes.

I just googled that and I think I got a doper’s website.

This, although this is not the picture mentioned in my post. Unfortuately I can’t find the original thread or the picture

You know what’s more of a miracle? A poster coming back a few posts later to say that he’s completely full of bullshit.

I have no idea what “14 k of g in a f p d” means, though the flat panel thing does have a good bit of truthiness to it, don’t it?

Here ya go.

ETA: That’s the thread – the link to the pic is now dead, unfortunately.

I appreciate your honesty, but I feel I must say that your answer seemed contrived and not very believable.

I’m sorry that I forgot to say what it means in my previous post. I was so busy trying to find the thread it was in that I completely forgot to post the answer! Once you know what it is, it’s so obvious that I’m amazed no one figure it out.

14 k of g in a f p d = 14 k…

Hold on a second, there are two men in black suits at my front door, I’d better go see what they want. I’ll be right back.

When that dude posted that thing about the place that has that stuff? That was awesome.
