Posting a link without showing anything other than the link

Posted in a thread which contained a couple of links and the links both came up automatically showing snippets of the linked page. I only intended to post the link as underlined blue text indicating a link, not as a pop-up box. Can I do this?

As opposed to

Type your text, highlight the portion you plan to make the link and click the the link icon above. It looks like the 2 chain links and is after the I for italics and the double quotes for Quotes.

If I understand the OP correctly, I think a single space before the link disables preview.

Took three tries in an ATMB test but finally got it to work. Kinda ugly work-around – hope I remember how to do it.

All you need to do is put something else on the same line as the link – any text at all. A space and a period will do it. Or maybe the space by itself, I haven’t tried that.

You can also put it in angle brackets like so

That’s a built in markdown / commonmark feature. But as noted above, you can also add any characters in front to generate a similar result, though you may get mini-oneboxing (where the raw link is replaced with the title tag).
