Power couples / award wins

Has a married couple ever won Oscars at the same time – that is, on the same night? How about Emmys? Tonys?

John and Faith Hubley shared a best animated short subject Oscar in 1959.

I would think other production teams had spouses winning together.

Joel Coen and Frances McDormand both won Oscars for Fargo.

William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett won matching Emmys for St Elsewhere on the same night, roughly twenty years after Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne did likewise with their performances in The Magnificent Yankee.

On further research, John and Faith Hubley shared three Oscars – 1959, 1962, and 1966.

Betty Comdon and Adolf Green won Tonys for their scores to Hallelujah, Baby!, On the 20th Century, and The Will Rogers Follies.

Master Class earned Tonys for actress Zoe Caldwell and producer Robert Whitehead.

Other married couple collaborators who won Oscars in the same year and category:

Dante Ferretti & Francesca Lo Schiavo, 3 times (Best Art Direction)
Alan & Marilyn Bergman, 3 times (2 for Song and 1 for Score)
Julia & Michael Phillips (Best Picture, The Sting)
Richard & Lili Fini Zanuck (Best Picture, Driving Miss Daisy)
Muriel & Sydney Box (Best Screenplay, The Seventh Veil)
Earl & Pamela Wallace (Best Screenplay, Witness)
Edward & Edna Anhalt (Best Story, Panic in the Streets)
Christina Innis & Bob Murawski (Best Editing, The Hurt Locker)
Kristina Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez (Best Song, Frozen)

Peter Jackson & Fran Walsh both won 3 Oscars for LOTR:ROTK, 2 in the same category (Picture, Screenplay) and 1 different from the other (Director and Song, respectively)
Holly Hunter won Best Actress for The Piano the same year Janusz Kaminski won Best Cinematography for Schindler’s List. They would marry a year later but weren’t spouses at the time.

Similarly, John Toll and Lois Burwell both won Oscars for Braveheart (Cinematography & Makeup, respectively) but wouldn’t marry until 2 years later.

…are not married. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
