Power Spring Shoes

I was lucky enough to be able to try a coolio pair of spring stilt shoes. (2’6" high version)

For those of you who have not seen these before (I have no pics, sorry), they are stilts that are built with springs and tension lines. Picture the legs on those AT-ST walkers from Return of the Jedi (the two legged imperial attack machines that Chewbacca takes over with the two ewoks).

I was helping a buddy of mine with his Espresso stand down along the Victoria Inner Harbour. After I was done, there was one of the street performers, whom I have known for years, around the stand and he had these boots with him. He had been running up at down the causeway at speeds about 3 or 4 times what normal people can run, as well as jumping straight up and down on them and getting about 3 or 4 feet of air (for those of you who are not impressed, keep in mind that the boots are about 3 feet high as well so it is possible for his head to be a good 10 or 12 feet off the ground!!). Anyhow, he offered them to me to use.

Took me about 5-10 minutes to get used to them, at which time I wanted down. I did not break my head although I came pretty close!! Lots of fun though!!! I highly recommend them!!

If I find a picture, I will send it along too.

Just wanted to share that and no one is in my house right now for me to share with - so I share to the world!! (thanks Cecil)

Are these the ones the Russian police have been training in for the past few months?

Apparently as well as giving them extra height they enable them to run at speeds of 60 km/h. Wow!

They just might be …

the street performer I was telling you about has only been using them for a couple of weeks and already he can just fly in them!!!

Cool, If you find out where to get them, please let me know I want some.

I know the company that makes them is in Germany (that is where he bought them)

Post a link if you have one, any idea on the prices? These things sound like they would be a blast at work. Provided I could still do my job, it would probably be a little hard to drive the forklift. Especially since I would be 9 feet tall. Hey maybe I could sew up some pants with really long legs, and stick some Nike’s on em and walt around the mall, maybe hustle a basketball game or two.
