Pre-Iraq Account of White House Meeting Disclosed.

President Bush, in an unannounced meeting with high level administration officials earlier today, made good on his promise to focus on the domestic economy between mid-east wars. The President, carefully mixing his metaphors, unveiled a novel fiscal notion which he called "the cornerstone on the super highway to privatization." 

He began his remarks by making clear the distinction between “cosa nostra” and “privatization,” both of which roughly translate to “our thing.” “Privatization is legal.” he said. “It’s just that simple.”

The President continued saying that while he understood there had been some “grousing and nitpicking” about tax cuts for the rich and government subsidies for his friends, it is clear his policies are working well to produce an ever-widening income gap both at home and abroad. He did acknowledge some inefficiencies in the system; he vowed that his plan to legally declare the U.S. Treasury a corporate slush fund would just make things easier for everyone.

Mr. Bush said that he expected some token resistance in Congress. “After all, some of these guys still actually have to win elections”, he smirked and then went on to say he felt sure there was bi-partisan support for the plan which would “profit all concerned.” He then revealed that Vice-President Dick Cheney had given him his own personal assurance of “widespread support in the bidness community.” The President closed by saying, “According to Mr. Cheney, this is just what we need to get America going and besides, possession is nine points of the law, anyway.”

Why should we trust you?

This is pretty clearly an amateur attempt at satire, not a genuine news report.

What is supposed to be debated? Most posters have long since resolved in their own minds what GWB’s attitudes and efforts toward the economy were and his beliefs for the government’s place in it. Unless you wish to debate some genuinely new revelations, I don’t see much point in this thread, which looks more like Pit Lite than anything else.

As presented, no. And again I say I’m willing to see this thread disappear.

However, I will accept criticism of my amateur attempt at sarcasm. Experts, put yourself back in '02 and write something sharper and more to the point. (poetic)
