Finished binge watching the entire series, and loved it. One question I didn’t see answered - what was that all about when Tulip was in Houston giving that woman a map or something (?) in exchange for Carlos’ address, and the woman delivered it to a mysterious man in a theater?
The scuttlebutt is that mysterious man was Herr Starr, a powerful man in an ancient secret society that is prominent in the comic. The show hasn’t given up anything on that plotline though. We can assume interactions will happen now that the crew is on their road trip.
Not sure why you posted this in response to my post. I said the exact same thing; you may as well have just written “+1.” It’s even stranger because your tone implies disagreement, like you’re correcting me.
They wore different costumes when searching for Genesis before it reached Texas.
The after show episode of Talking Preacher touched on that, Herr Starr will be a more prominent character in S2.
I’d say they were doing the horizontal mambo. It’s all about the nuance.

Your post was just convenient. I was clearly agreeing with you. Not sure where you get the implication of disagreement from.
Misreading it, and having a bad day. Apologies.
No worries.
As an aside, I’ve noticed that the alternative station I listen to in the car has suddenly put “No Rain” into pretty heavy rotation the last few weeks, whereas I can’t recall having heard it for months before. Maybe it’s confirmation bias at work, but I wonder if the song actually got a sales bump because of its use in the show.
Chris Hardwick just posted this. No Rain performed by David Lichens. - YouTube

For some reason, there hasn’t been an official release of the song yet, though. Every version of it I can find online is just an audio rip from the show, complete with sound effects.
Well, this guy could probably sell a lot of copies if he ever does release it. Or should I say, he could probably make a few bucks while everyone else torrents the one legit copy that someone buys. Music biz these days.

Was I the only one that thought that Fiore and Deblanc were Genesis parents? Obviously with one of them being a demon instead of an angel.
No, you’re not the only one to think that. Someone upthread said the same thing, although I can’t remember which post.
Skipping a lot of the thread as I am only three episodes in.
When is this show set? I thought it was late '80’s or so. Then, Cassidy said he liked Justin Bieber and he referenced the Bourne movies.
They do not seem to have smart phones. The cars are old.
Is it present day or not? Or is it just a weird mix of past and present because they exist in their own universe?
I’m pretty sure I recall Tulip having a smartphone in the first episode, so definitely seems to be present day to me. I assume the old cars are just a by-product of it being set in a rural Texas town where most of the people probably don’t have a lot of money.
Finished the season the other day. Wow, I really loved this show. I had low expectations, having thought the pilot was average at best. Loved, loved, loved, it.
Will be watching “as airs” next year, which my wife and I only do for top stuff.
It’s nice to see a fresh new dark comedy do so well in its debut season. Great chemistry with all the characters, even the villains like Quincanon, or the archangel. That’s an accomplishment.

I’ve just binge-watched the whole series and found it absolutely brilliant - they’ve captured the dark humor of the over-the-top violence of the comics while fleshing out the characters a lot more than the comics did. I still giggle at the thought of the line “Tom Cruise Explodes”, and the fight in the motel was a whole new level of homicidal slapstick. And the blatantly fake God in the last episode (complete with fake white beard) was a stroke of genius.
I was uncertain about the casting of Cooper at first, but he grew on me. OTOH, Negga and Gilgun were perfect; between this and Misfits Gilgun is a genius at making insane murderers entertaining and engaging, and Negga had the Tulip 'tude down pat (starting with bringing down a helicopter with toy soldiers).
I like how she got the idea to solve her “relationship” problem from watching Psycho.
I like your response. Yep, they sure did go the extra mike when they put this series together.
