Obama is having a HUGE rally here in Chicago on Tuesday night. He is supposedly due on stage to talk to the crowd at midnight (10p PST). Assuming he wins I would not be surprised if McCain wants to play the spoiler and wait till after that to make a concession speech.
I would guess 1a PST when he can guess most people would be in bed.
Better yet…when do papers need to go to press for the morning edition? I would not be surprised if he tried to push past that deadline so as not to have morning papers splash it everywhere.
I don’t believe it is going to be a blowout; I think he will not concede until the last dog dies, if then. That doesn’t mean I think he will win, either.
11p PST. The election will not be close.
Mr McCain will be gracious in conceding.
Neither Mr McCain nor Mr Obama are demons in real life; they are both pretty decent folk.
It will be after polls close in California. He isn’t going to pull the rug out from other Republicans running for close house seats in the Pacific time zone. So I say 11:17 pm. He’ll say something like “I just congratulated That One on his victory tonight and thanks to all my campaign volunteers. Good night.”
I hate to be a party pooper, but we should all be aware that Obama may not win. Maybe I’m being a nervous nelly, but its not like McCain is out of the race yet.
That being said, I will sigh in relief when I see a concession speech from McCain. (Just as I’ll drink myself silly in despair if I see one from Obama.)
Jolly you’ve been increasingly pessimistic as of late. Beg your pardon but calm down. The media has propagated the meme that the racist faction of the us conservative right are going to win out in the end and eke the win from Obama. There are numerous threads, 20 months of campaigning hard against the top opponants worldwide the Clinton machine and now the republican machine and you know what? He’s outperforming his expectations almost every single time. If that does not diminish your pessimism I don’t know what will. Tell you what - we can meet back here when the Electoral Votes near 270 by 9pm eastern for Obama.
