Predict time & day of McCain's concession speech

This is mostly a poll, but since it’s election-related, I thought it may go better in GD. Mods please move elsewhere if you see fit.

California polls close at 8pm PST on Nov 4.
I’m predicting that McCain will give his concession speech around 10pm PST Nov 4.

What do you predict?

Let’s see who gets closest.

Note: “Never” is a possible answer, if you believe he will win.

Monday. 10 am.

Obama is having a HUGE rally here in Chicago on Tuesday night. He is supposedly due on stage to talk to the crowd at midnight (10p PST). Assuming he wins I would not be surprised if McCain wants to play the spoiler and wait till after that to make a concession speech.

I would guess 1a PST when he can guess most people would be in bed.

Better yet…when do papers need to go to press for the morning edition? I would not be surprised if he tried to push past that deadline so as not to have morning papers splash it everywhere.

10 pm EST, November 6, 2012.

I don’t care what the polls say. This race is a lot closer than any of us are hoping (or fearing, I guess).

Obama is going to win by 30 points, regardless of what the polls say. So McCain will concede as soon as 270EC worth of states’ polls close!

Why the rush? He’ll concede the next morning. He knows it’s going to be a blowout, so they’ll all get an early night and a sound night’s sleep.

I don’t believe it is going to be a blowout; I think he will not concede until the last dog dies, if then. That doesn’t mean I think he will win, either.

11p PST. The election will not be close.
Mr McCain will be gracious in conceding.
Neither Mr McCain nor Mr Obama are demons in real life; they are both pretty decent folk.

It will be after polls close in California. He isn’t going to pull the rug out from other Republicans running for close house seats in the Pacific time zone. So I say 11:17 pm. He’ll say something like “I just congratulated That One on his victory tonight and thanks to all my campaign volunteers. Good night.”

I agree. I predict that Ohio gets called early, leaving McCain with no realistic shot of winning. Then VA, NC, MI, or FL will fall making it academic.

But he will still wait until CA closes, and then concede…

I agree with this 100% They are both decent men. I don’t see this election going until Wednesday for a decision.

That’s what I used to think.

Hey! I was gonna say 11:17 pm. So, I’m saying 11:17:01 pm. :stuck_out_tongue:

At his age, McCain gets to bed earlier. I say 11:16 pm.

13 minutes before Obama is scheduled to go on stage, so that’s 9:47 I guess.

I hate to be a party pooper, but we should all be aware that Obama may not win. Maybe I’m being a nervous nelly, but its not like McCain is out of the race yet.

That being said, I will sigh in relief when I see a concession speech from McCain. (Just as I’ll drink myself silly in despair if I see one from Obama.)

Feel free to guess never then.

Not until various court cases are settled or appear hopeless. I guess November 23, 1:00 p.m. Eastern.

I agree with this.

Jolly you’ve been increasingly pessimistic as of late. Beg your pardon but calm down. The media has propagated the meme that the racist faction of the us conservative right are going to win out in the end and eke the win from Obama. There are numerous threads, 20 months of campaigning hard against the top opponants worldwide the Clinton machine and now the republican machine and you know what? He’s outperforming his expectations almost every single time. If that does not diminish your pessimism I don’t know what will. Tell you what - we can meet back here when the Electoral Votes near 270 by 9pm eastern for Obama.
