Th fact that Arnold has just gotten Warren Buffet on his side as his Financial advisor is a big move too. In terms of pure money sence I don’t think theres much of anybody with a better rep than Buffet. I don’t know how that will translate into political/public financal matters however. It might come off as pandering to the big-money types or it might come off as “Hey Arnold’s got some serious money brains in his corner” On the other hand it’s its possible most voters will say “who the hell is Warren Buffet” and ignore it all together.
Schwartzenegger certainly doesn’t need the money. According to his tax filings, he’s one of the 400 richest people in America. Something like 277, with a net worth of as much as 800 million dollars.
Of course, he’s not in Buffet’s league, but funding an election like this is chump change for Arnold.
The only possible downside to Buffet’s involvement is that it’s going to make Republicans even more nervous, because Buffet is a Democrat who opposes a lot of Republican fiscal policy.
Yeah, I didn’t mean to imply he needed the money, just more in the 'brains by assosciation" theory much like Bush used to get elected. Like Bush didn’t really push his own qualifications as much as surrounding himself with generally respected people, like Cheney and Powell. I think Arnold is going to continue use him connections and popularity to surround himself with respected people like Buffet rather than bothering to address the issues of his own level of competence. I think It’s a damn good strategy and makes him a heavy favorite to win.
