When balancing my checkbook and verifying my VISA check card transactions, I came across a Pizza Hut charge that was $3.00 higher than the receipt in my wallet. This was an order that I phoned in and picked up. I didn’t line thru the tip space, but I brought down the total very clearly - for a change, I wrote legibly.
I haven’t been able to get thru to the restaurant, but I really need to be there in person anyway to have someone verify my complaint. Maybe it was a mere slip of the finger, but I swear, if the surly bimbette who waited on my that day decided to give herself a tip, I can’t be sure what I’ll do. I’m pissed!! Yeah, I’m assuming the worst, but there was something about her attitude that makes me think she’d do something like that without flinching.
Damn!! I started out feeling pretty good today… Now I just want to kick some ass!
$3 isn’t alot of money, but it’s the principle. The management should be aware of this transgression in case it happens a lot, but it probably isn’t worth confronting the waitress about it, especially if you order there alot. (you never know what surprise ingredient might be on your next pizza!)
I agree- go directly to the manager, do not pass go.
Explain in your sweetest way that, gosh, you’re sure it was just a mistake, but you wanted to bring it to his attention, blah blah blah. Let the MANAGER decide if the employee was trying to steal, then take care of it himself.
If she was trying to get a tip you didn’t give her, fuck her. I hate the fact that some people feel a tip is mandatory. I’m sorry if you make $2.35 per hour, but don’t blame me. BTW, I always tip well if I am served well. Hell, the last restaurant I worked in, a guy came in and tipped the waitress $100 as soon as he sat down. “I just want great service,” he said. And you betcha he got it!
Well, I posted too soon… I stopped there on the way home and they were most courteous and cooperative, and my account has been credited. So now I’m pissed at myself for overreacting and suspecting the worst. Damn, I hate people who do that!!! What a bitch I am!!!
The sailboat show was lots of fun. Hubby bought a T-shirt, and we stole lots of ideas to use on our boat! Tampa/St Pete looks like a great area for sailing… someday…
I have to ask: when you went back to the Pizza Hut were you reasonably polite, or did you go in frothing at the mouth? If it’s the former, don’t beat yourself up over it! You had a legitimate complaint, after all.
I would just hate to see someone calling themselves a “bitch” if they acted reasonably. It strikes me as a little harsh.
No, I didn’t froth. I said something to the effect that I had a receipt for $X, but $X+3 had been posted to my account - and I had copies of the receipt and my bank statement. They were perplexed, but apologetic. I’m glad I had a few hours to cool off.
Who am I kidding - I’m too nice to make a scene. But it was nice to be able to blow off some steam here. And from now on, I’m paying cash!!
