President Bush Messing Up (again)

Earlier on this evening at a friend’s house I saw a clip of President Bush making a speech to reporters on a golf course. About five seconds after he had issued a scathing diatribe against terrorists, he turns around and says, ‘Now, watch this drive’ - or something to that effect.

I don’t know how old this clip is. I have tried a Google search. Does anyone know where I can find a link to the .avi file for this (or any other video file)?

If you were watching the news, it’s a good bet that the clip is from today. Since it was Alfred E. “Dubya” Newman speaking, it must have been on MAD TV.

Okay, you lost me somewhere.

How exactly did he “mess up”? Did he say “Watch this drive”, then use an iron? I must admit, the man isn’t much at golf…I was watching him on the driving range the other day, and i was surprised the Secret Service didnt steal the videotape. I think maybe one of the shots actually went straight…The rest ended up in the parking lot, and I swear one went behind him.

I believe that to be a good thing though. If you are stressed out, you can hit a golf ball for crap, so he must be taking his position seriously.

When bmerton said he messed up, I think he was referring to the way Dubya managed to totally switch modes. At one moment he was giving what seemed to be a very emotion filled speech about terrorists and whatnot, but in an instant, not 3 seconds after he was finished with his little spiel, everything seemed to be forgotten. It was like he dropped his act, and went back to what was far more important to him: golf.

That’s not what he really thinks, I’m sure, but the video (which clarifies this better than I can) makes it seem like that.

I don’t understand what the problem is. Terrorist are nothing compared to golf.

More seriously, he knows that all his prior statements on the matter are on the public record. There is little more he needs to say.

All it shows is that he has multitasking skills. I really don’t see any problem here.

This was featured on “The Daily Show” last night, the one with NY’s senator Chuck Schumer as the guest. It’ll be repeated tonight at 7:00 on Comedey Central.

I think it was hilarious! He makes this really sincere, forceful statement, then lofts his club and says, “now watch this drive.”

The camera cuts back to Jon Stewart who then says, “You were this close” (holding thumb and forefinger an inch apart.)

I saw it, too. You’re right; it was a hoot.

The whole thing wasn’t really a big deal. It sorta looked like the reporters interrupted Bush’s game to ask him something, so he answered the question and went back to his game.

Still, it was funny once Stewart got ahold of it. He’s great.

Isn’t this along the same lines of compartmentalization that Clinton was hailed for having the ability to do?
