I dunno… just saw this flash on the bottom of the screen on MSNBC and it really, really surprised me.
Aside from a high cholesterol level, the man seemed pretty healthy. No word on whether the lesion is benign or malignant (though if it’s called cancer, isn’t it inherently malignant?).
Geez, what a sucky way to close things out. That’s a bum trip.
I just read that on the CNN web site too. It doesn’t say what kind of skin cancer, but they apparently found it on his back. Most forms of skin cancer are highly treatable and rarely fatal, as long as it is not a malignant melanoma.
The inauguration is this Saturday, isn’t it? It’s always Jan. 20, right?
At Clinton’s inauguration, the band had to play to fill in the time after Gore’s swearing-in, so Clinton’s could take place at precisely noon EST. They played Sousa’s “The Liberty Bell”, which until then I hadn’t realized was anything other than the Monty Python theme. Should have realized that that was a bad sign. I remarked at the time that I expected the Foot to come down and squash someone.
