Intentionally. It’s to support a boy who lost his hair during his battle with leukemia, a disease the killed one of Bush’s kids.
Love, hate, or just tolerate him, you have to admit, he can be a pretty cool former President sometimes.

Holy shit! how many secret service guys does one old man need? I had figured maybe they had 6, in shifts of 2.
Yeah, he’s way cooler as an EX-president.
Why the wheelchair?
I did not like this man when he was head of the CIA; I liked him even less as Vice President. While he was POTUS, my opinion of him fell even lower, which I didn’t think was possible.
But ddamn, for doing that, he (and his Secret Service guys) totally fucking rocks!
ETA: I still think he’s a dick, overall.
Parkinson’s disease.
his detail will really be inconspicuous now.
Very cool gesture by a caring guy. I always liked 41 so it doesn’t come as a surprise but it’s moving nevertheless. Good man. Someday that kid’s gonna look back on this and a huge smile will come across his face.
That was my thought, also. Who cares about offing a sick old man?
To a terrorist I imagine being able to kill someone like that would be a symbolic gesture.
Heard this on the radio yesterday, very cool. I had no idea he’d lost a daughter to leukemia.
Really? Yeah, it is one topic George W. Bush will not typically discuss in interviews because it was so painful for him as a child. His parents did not tell him she was ill and then they picked him up from school and told him she had died. It hit him hard and he never truly recovered. He may have discussed it, but it is usually on the “blacklist” of topics for his interviews. Painful, indeed.
This was in the days where you were advised not to tell young children serious issues, but keep them in the dark.
It’s part of his Professor X cosplay.
