President intereferes with my job duties

I do support for a hotel/spa reservation software company. Not a bad job. Basically hotels/spas call up when the software breaks and we dial in and fix it. The beautiful thing about this job is that we dial in, fix the problem and then call them back and tell them it is done. No more walking people through technical stuff they will never understand.

So anyway I got a case and tried to dial in so I could fix the probelm. I couldn’t connect. The hotel needed to restart PC Anywhere. So I call and ask for the IT department. I spoke with a woman named Carol. I explained that I needed to connect and needed to speak to the IT guy.

She said “Well, he is not available.”
I asked when I could get a hold of someone in MIS so I could connect.
She said “I don’t know…THE PRESIDENT IS HERE!”
Me:“Ok, cool, but I just need PCAnywhere restarted”.
Carol:“The PRESIDENT IS HERE! CALL BACK TOMORROW!”
Me:“MMMMMkay”

Apparently having the President in-house stops all other activities.

Note, please don’t turn this into a BUSH/KERRY is GREAT/EVIL thread.

You know, there is definitely room here for a “Land of the Lost” joke, but I can’t quite manage it …

Maybe she meant the President was RIGHT THERE… sitting in her lap

At least she didn’t say “The President is coming! The President is coming!”

Bill Clinton was there?

I suspect everyone had sauntered out to the lobby to watch the President stroll through. Like him or not, I’d do the same. She was probably frantic because your call was keeping her from doing the same. I bet if you’d called back in half an hour, you would have got someone.
