There’s no easy fix. The problem has been decades in the making with the Republican focus on undermining public education and creating handy scapegoats. It will take decades to reverse. But I do think it’s important for people to speak up, loudly and often, to point out the illogic and hypocrisy of these positions.
Example: I hear a lot of people, even on this board, bemoaning the fact of Biden’s age, as if that alone should be a basis to not vote for him. Really?
First, understand that this is a Republican talking point. It infects the national dialogue like a bad case of COVID.
I mean yeah, Biden is old. And that’s all. Unlike Trump, who is also old, he’s not mentally deficient, not corrupt, not a walking, talking crime machine, not a fascist and frankly, he’s done an amazing job in 3 short years in the face of relentless opposition. He’s smart, experienced and decent.
What’s wrong with people who are even questioning how best to use their vote? How do they defend their choice?
