What about the Czar and his ministers?
We’ll see how ketamine addicted whack-a-doodle billionaire Musk works with that. Battle of the Idiots!
Trump has already thrown Tesla under the bus:
Biden is associated with combatting global warming. This polls well until the moment that voters see the least bit of sacrifice being asked for, as explained here.
Quite illuminating link - thanks (and interesting similarities with political trends in Europe).
A paragraph from the link:
“Voters of course hate being told what car they must drive, how they must heat their homes, cook their food, etc. And they really, really hate high prices. Rather than fighting climate change, their strong preference is for cheap , reliable, abundant energy. No wonder that, when asked whether they would support [paying something extra] on their monthly utility bill to combat climate change, working-class voters opposed even paying an extra one dollar. And if the toll was raised to $10, these voters were opposed by a massive 38 points.”
It goes on to point out how the Biden administration has been “cluelessly doubling down.” I wish people thought differently than they do, but given that they do, I’m afraid there’s some hard truth this.
The Q2 campaign fundraising reports are out, and it’s not great news for Biden. Trump reversed Biden’s campaign cash lead with an enormous haul during the quarter, particularly spiking after his conviction in NY. Trump’s campaign and the RNC combined reported just over $170 million cash on hand while Biden and the DNC reported $157 million.
Now part of the reason for that is that Biden has been spending much more heavily than Trump on early campaign infrastructure, an investment that will hopefully pay off in November. But Trump will have plenty of cash to spend this summer to ramp up his operations and advertising.
… or spend on his legal bills.
I think it’s a bit of Democratic self-soothing to think that Trump’s legal bills are going to significantly eat up his campaign cash. He’s going to have an enormous pot of money for both his legal expenses and campaign activities.
Option 2:“If you don’t elect me, that will be the end of our great nation.”
An enormous pot of money… which is entirely under the control of the Trump family and their closest allies. So what do you think they will spend it on? The best political strategists and organizers available? Or businesses owned by the Trump family and their closest allies?
Also, they will be sucking up all the funds for all the other Republican candidates. So there may be a downticket effect.
That is what I predicted- the RNC is now only for trump- this will hurt smaller downticket elections for the GOP.
Nah, this helps down ballot Republicans. The National Republican Congressional Committee also saw a spike in its fundraising after the Trump verdict and outraised its Democratic counterpart for the first time this cycle.
I believe Trump has already decreed that they are to send him a proportion of their fundraising.
Don’t know if this is the right place to put this, but I have to put it somewhere. I accidentally stumbled across a video of interviews with the “Christian” faction of MAGA world. I couldn’t stand to watch more than a few minutes of this appalling irrationality, but the recurring theme was that Trump was essential for ridding America of the evil that pervades it. The one that especially struck me was the talk with an old biddy wearing a MAGA hat.
The interviewer asked the old biddy what she meant by this “evil”, but she demurred, saying “Christians don’t talk about such things”. But the interviewer persisted, saying that he just didn’t understand what she was saying (and neither did I). She finally blurted out “Biden! That’s the evil! There, I’ve said it!”. At which point she ran away from the interview.
I propose a new national motto: “America: a nation completely incapable of governing itself.”
Hmm, I still prefer “E Pluribus Unum.”
Can we get a cite on these reports? Because I would like to note that, as I type this, 8 days remain in Q2, so I’m frankly flabbergasted that Q2 fundraising totals are being published by the FEC given that we are still in Q2.
Doing some search, the biggest news I’m seeing about Q2 fundraising reports is an article from the NYTimes, which effectively tracks your argument, flurb.
And their sourcing for this data? Let’s look…
You know, if I want to keep my reputation as the Paper of Record, perhaps I should not just blindly accept the wording of a man and his organization which have a genuinely traceable 50-year record of lying to me.
I’m embarrassed – you’re entirely correct. The reporting is based on monthly filings with the FEC which were due June 20. So more than just the campaigns’ say-so (since they have to do have to provide some documentation), but not a quarterly report. My apologies.
Naw, no big deal, and I apologize if I was harsh. My tone was towards the NYT, not you, my friend.
However, this is as good as time as any to donate more money… done.
This either means the Trump campaign is feeling pretty confident, in which case Biden should be concerned, or they’re idiots, in which case…maybe still be a little concerned?
It’s probably bullshit. “Leaked campaign memos” are the way campaigns signal various things to the media without direct attribution. So for whatever reason, the Trump campaign wants the media to report that they’re focusing on MN and VA; who knows whether this is anything but a messaging strategy.
