Huh I didn’t know he was born in Greece, anyway RIP.
The chick on BBC seems more tearful than I imagine the Royals will be.
What a shame that he didn’t quite get the telegram from the Queen. She could’ve properly signed it and everything.
Wonder how long will Lilibeth survive now? Very long term marriages often see both partners die within short times of each other.
I was thinking the same thing. “Death of spouse” is about the number one most stressful life event.
It seems to me if the woman dies first, the man dies rather quickly afterwards but the reverse doesn’t seem as common.
She is 94 but she seems to be a healthy 94, he was in and out of the hospital and probably would have died at least ten years ago without modern medicine.
I obviously don’t know but if I had to wager I would guess she will live to at least as old as her mother, 101, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she lived a few years longer.
My gran lived for nearly 40 years after my grandpa died.
British TV is going to be insufferably morbid this weekend.
Mine lived 15 and 7 years respectively.
The presenter on BBC has a big case of the tears
Remember when the Queen’s mum died? Media will be spamming us questions and “news” about the Monarchy now. Free content.
Sorry I’m bored this morning, I bet the tabloids will blame Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for this somehow, haha!
Wonder if they will be permitted back in for the funeral? My bet, Henry might but 21st century Wallis would be told to stay put,
That would not be very good optics for them. I’m more betting on this being used as the venue for some sort of public rapprochement.
The Royals are known to hold very long-term grudges and they prefer to accept temporary public disapproval. We will outlast them.
That didn’t work out so well in the case of Diana, and I like to think they are capable of learning from their mistakes - but then I think of Andrew, and you’re probably right.
The Monarcy is a perverse system that forces a family of people (from womb to tomb) to focus 100% of their lives to naked public relations.
Love or hate these weirdos, the Royals are given the sisyphean task of staying relavant in the public zeitgeist for the sole hopes that this buys them enough good will so that their Royal status and wealth is preserved.
I am sickened that most Canadians are still fine with this perverse theatre.
A life well lived. I saw the Queen and HRH at an opening of something. It was 1966 , our school was let out to see them.
She is gone and they are still here and taking potshots at her. Made my point.
Dealing with problematic DIL is something they have centuries of experience of doing. Caroline of Brunswick, Diana, Fergie…
She is still the People’s Princess and they are still thought a little less of for their treatment of her. Camilla is still a laughing stock, too. So no, they have not outlasted that. Just look at the reaction to the truth of the Bashir interview - people were livid.
