Print a 3D figurine of yourself

A German companywhich uses scanning and 3-d printing to create figurines: $300 for 6 inches. From the photos some of them are of astonishing quality.

I think this is going to get huge in the next few years. $300 isn’t exorbitant even today and it will only get cheaper and better. People will print not only themselves but their pets, their children at different ages etc.

Like with photos, you will have to use professional studios at first but eventually this technology will move down to home 3d printers and consumer cameras.

Licensed figurines of celebrities, anyone?

I’m holding out for a life-size accurate print of my skull. A European artist has already had MRIs turned into a chrome plated full skeleton.

The main obstacle for me is getting the MRIs. I sustain head injuries far less often than you would think.

I read the article. I waaant one.

Not sure of who, yet.

I’d rather have one of someone else. (wink wink)

Really cool. Looks like it would capture your soul.

Would love to make my own nativity set. You can get action figures with your own face.

A friend did that. It looks great.

But… I’m using mine!

I want one, but where in each hand I’m holding a further scaled-down copy of the figurine. Of course, in the hands of each scaled-down copy is an even smaller copy, and so on.
