Printing Enlargements in PDFs

Is there a way to print enlargements of PDF pages?

I have a PDF that contains some artwork that I need printed. I need it to be enlarged about 50% over its current size though. Printing it out on multiple pages that would be tiled together in the end is what I’m after. I feel like I’m missing something obvious here. There doesn’t seem to be a way to print it out in Reader as an enlargement that would appear on multiple pages.

Any ideas? I have Acrobat (as well as Reader), PhotoShop, MS Office 2000, AutoCad and other sundry programs. There is a workaround I’ve found: store the page as a GIF in PhotoShop and then paste it into an Excel page. Excel has no trouble printing pages to be tiled, but I’m worried about loss in the GIF conversion. Any info?

Thanks in advance.

The problem is that the image is in raster format and can’t be scaled up effectively with software because of that. Ratsers are pixel based so to make one larger, you just increase the pixel count. One pixel of red becomes four pixels of red, etc. and this causes the typical “blocky” look that you get with software enlargements of rasster images. I would print the original and then take it to a Kinko’s for optical enlargement as that doesn’t have the same problems as software enlargements.

Before doing that, you might try looking at the options for your printer.

Many printers (printer drivers, really) have options to allow them to print ‘thumbnails’ (multiple page images on a single printed page).

Some also have options to enlarge an image when printing it. If your printer has those, you can do this yourself.

Is this what you’re looking for?
