For all of those who don’t believe Mr. Miller can act, I invite you to check out his role in The Human Stain, where he plays a character who decides to ‘pass’ as white in order to avoid discrimination and a lack of opportunities in the 1950’s. He’s in love with a white woman and conflicted about revealing the truth to her. There are several scenes (on the train, enlisting in the army) where his facial expressions alone carry the scene. The movie itself is not great, but the acting in it was reviewed highly.
I’ll admit I started watching PB mainly because I thought Wentworth was hot, but I keep watching for other reasons. His role doesn’t give him many chances to emote, but when he does, it’s a powerful scene. Have you forgotton him the infirmary after his toe was chopped off? Or during the riots where he was huddled in his cell, petrified, holding the long screw for defense?
