I enjoyed last night’s two hour episode. I thought it moved, I thought most of the twists were well done. Poor Star Trek: Enterprise guy…3 episodes on Heroes as an Irishman, 2 on Prison Break as a Frenchman. Must be hard for him to find a steady job.
Lincoln came clean about Sara, Michael has found his new C-Note, Whistler is in with The Company, Mahone is being set-up (or is breaking down, I’m not sure which), and we’ve yet to learn what roles T-Bag and Bellick will play in the big story. I know that there have been many complaints about this season, but I’m enjoying it. I think they picked up the pace with these 2 hours.
Bah! Could someone please ask for a title change. I obviously don’t know what year I’m living in. Thank you.
I thought Bellick had a nice touching moment or two, clearly upset with the news of Sarah’s death. I could’ve used more T-Bag, though.
Do you think the offer to Mahone is legit or is it a setup? Personally I think the Company is looking to find out what he knows, and then eliminate him, but I can’t really decide.
Lunchtime, more thoughts later.
Grrrrrrr! Frustrating! I want them the hell out of prison already, although I am intrigued by the new alliance between the Michael and the Milkman.
I continue to be impressed by Wade Williams’ performance as Bellick. Once again he took a scene that could’ve been played so cliche (his condolences to Michael) and took it to an extremely effective level.
Overall I liked the episode but I have to say that I nearly threw my TV out the window when I realized they weren’t actually leaving the prison.
The conversation that Whistler (is that how you spell it?) had with bad kidnapper decapitating lady at the end is going to have repercussions. Michael clearly wasn’t happy about it.
I’m excited for next week but I’m still a little upset.
It’s called Prison Break. You can’t have them leaving too early. And once they leave, what’s the set-up? It’s not like the Panamanian authorities are going to track them to their next destination. The next step is Michael and Lincoln against ‘The Company’, and if you get upset that they are in prison too long, think about how bad it will be when they string the company war out for 2 seasons.
Personally, I liked the set-up prison escape, followed by the swerve. I didn’t like how much they set-up the end to the Michael / Whistler fight. I would have preferred something more abrupt, but they spent so much time on the ladder that you knew the failed escape was going to end the fight. Also, I’m surprised Lincoln hasn’t killed bad kidnapper decapitating lady yet. He’s had opportunity and motive, and he’s not afraid to kill (as shown by him gunning down a henchman this episode).
I totally get what you’re saying and I’m fine with it now seeing as the dynamic within the prison is set to change so it’ll make things interesting again. My original hope for the show is to have a different escape scenario every year so I never expected to have to drag the plot on for 8 or 10 years. In hindsight I’m not sure that would be any less tiresome…
I’m not convinced that there isn’t a few seasons worth of plot to be had against the corporation though. After that though, the show has to end. I just don’t see how you drag this whole thing past five seasons.
I’m also a bit surprised Linc hasn’t killed bad kidnapper decapitating lady. I suppose we don’t really know how good linc is with a gun but I thought he’d shift his gun off of her head for a bit and plug the other dude. It seemed easy enough, she didn’t have a gun after all.
Great character development. Bellick, as noted above. Whistler being in with bad kidnapper decapitating lady (calling her Susan B. Anthony was so cliche). Linc should have killed the guy who was holding the gun on LJ and then gotten the two of them out of there. Mahone still crawling out of his skin.
Scofield sets up a plan that relies on the sun shining for three minutes in a place where the sun is always shining, and the sun goes behind a cloud. What are the odds?
Big Black Dude’s line “I want you to break out of this prison…and take me with you” had my jaw on the floor. I did not see it coming.
Not enough T-Bag. And that snake tongue thing of his is getting to be overused and very annoying.
Heh. I said to Mrs. D_Odds after the guard scene that Lechero is either toast, or he’s escaping with Michael.
As for T-Bag, I think he is best in small doses. My problem is that his small doses have been fairly pointless. Unless there is a follow-up (which I am doubting), the whole ring nonsense was a waste.
Three weeks ago I would have agreed but the minute he had his fall from grace it makes sense for him to get out. The minute he wanted to talk with Michael alone I knew it. Big Black dude has had Michaels number from the get go. As I recall, didn’t he question Michael about escape earlier on this season?
Bad kidnapper decapitating lady’s name was actually revealed this episode…Gretchen.
I was disappointed by Michael’s reaction to the news of Sara. He had his few moments of grief, then back to the all-important plan.
The writers wasted what could have been a much more poignant scene. Give Wentworth Miller a chance to actually ACT!
Wade Williams is (unsurprisingly) superb as Bellick. How is it the writers are doing so well with his character and so little with Michael?
I think it’s just adorable that you’ve been watching this show for over two seasons and still think that Wentworth Miller can act.
Compared to Dominic Purcell, he is Sir Alec-fucking-Guinness.
I disagree. Dominic Purcell can act. He just chooses not to.
The two together are like Dragnet in slo-mo. But I do love this show!
I’ll have to take your word for it, Otto. This is the only thing I have ever seen either one of them in.
When you look like Miller, who needs to be able to act? I’d be willing to watch him read a laundry list.
If you’re a Buffy fan then you’ve seen Wentworh Miller in the S2 episode “Go Fish” playing one of the swim team members (one of his scenes is in the season’s opening credits). Purcell was in the late lamented series John Doe playing a man who knew everything except the details of his own life and he solved crimes. And he was in a movie called “Three Way” that pops up on Showtime every other week.
Annie, I’m a guy who could care less about how Miller looks. Otto, I never got into Buffy nor John Doe. I did find amusing that T-Bag was in an episode of La Femme Nikita, where he played, of all things, a slightly less evil T-Bag.
“One pair of boxer shorts–slightly damp.
One pair of leather pants.
One dress shirt–3 buttons missing.
One set of dirty jeans. Dirty dirty jeans…”
