In the Nov issue of the UK’s magazine UNCUT, they have an article where they go in depth about Johnny Cash’s two prison concer recordings.
It got me wondering, are any major artists doing prison concerts nowadays?

Glen Campbell did just this summer. But, he was actually living there at the time.
From the “Krusty the Klown Prison Special”:
Krusty: I slugged some jerk in Tahoe.
They gave me one to three.
My high-priced lawyer sprung me
On a technicality.
I’m just visiting Springfield Prison,
I get to sleep at home tonight.
For outdoor sequences: boy howdy did the original Half-Life have them, and since I bought the Silver package, I get to play Half-Life again in the Source engine, and re-live that oh so sweet moment at the end of the helicopter sequence. I will never look at a laser pointer in lectures quite the same.
The benefits of Steam are awesome - as near as I can tell, I downloaded Half-Life 2 a few weeks ago and then a few days later I downloaded a patch for it. Since I’ve gotten Steam, I’ve had to download minor patches (each about 3 minutes) before playing, but then things worked just fine. It won’t let you play unless you patch, so I can see some people being unhappy if a patch causes it to not work, but then I imagine a patch for the patch will also be forthcoming.
Plus, having a no-CD version of Half-Life on my computer rules. I am greatly looking forward to the day when Valve’s Steam system sets the standard and I can use my CD drive for CDs instead of dongles.
hmmm… mods, can one of y’all tack this onto the end of the Half-Life thread here?
I have no idea how this happened and I apologize to all the fans who thought Gordon Freeman would be playing tonight. Now, back in your cells, maggots!!!
It hurts from the wheezing. Nice recovery.
I recently went to the Warden’s party in the County Jail.
There was a prison band there and they played in sort of ‘wailing’ style.
A gentleman named Murphy gave an excellent rendition on the saxophone, while the rhythym section all wore the same colours (perhaps denoting a common organisation?).
The drummer was from Illinois and played very loudly.
Most entertaining.
