Private School in Miami warns staff to not get COVID-19 vaccine

At least based on the bumper stickers and flags on vehicles in the parking lot of the local Natural Foods store (very hippy dippy) the number of conservatives exceeds the number of liberals by some margin.

I think someone who didn’t get the jab, and then dies or is severely ill would have a OAS claim on the employer for not only not ensuring their safety, but for actively placing them at risk.

It would not matter where the infection was contracted, however if there were to be an outbreak at the school that would tend to increase the likelihood of conviction.

The fact is that anyone providing a service where individuals from different households are mixing had better have a Covid strategy in writing.

I don’t think that liberals advertise as such as much. I live in a liberal county, the few bumper stickers I see are pro Trump. None of my friends have a ‘liberal’ bumper sticker.

I used to, until a moron rear-ended me and totaled my car. The bumper sticker said “Wicked Liberal Grandma”, white lettering on a purple field. Out of print so I couldn’t replace it.

But wait … didn’t their orange hero – one of the great geniuses of our time – claim to have more or less personally invented the COVID vaccine? I notice that Trumpists are not really big on what I like to call “logical consistency”.

Man, it took you a long time to notice that.

Isn’t “logic” something pagans invented to undermine Anglo-Saxon Christianity?

I’m in New England. I see lots of COEXIST, rainbow, pro-choice, pro-evolution and other bumper stickers that I interpret as liberal.

White Anglo-Saxon Christianity, but I guess that goes without saying. Logic is uncomfortably close to science in that both have a disconcerting tendency to tell Trumpists things that contradict the “Truths” they hold in their tiny little brains.

I would definitely put a rainbow “Crazy cat lady wicked liberal Grandma for Choice” bumper sticker on my Civic.

Civic ain’t big enough for that sticker.

You need to work “godless” and “vaccinated” in there somewhere.
:cat:

Just out of curiosity:

How would you be “discovered”?
How is this policy not a violation of one’s medical privacy and civil rights?
How can they possibly not be successfully sued?

You’re doing that liberal “logic” thing.

I see the same in the Pacific Northwest area. The left likes to advertise around here.

I’m perfectly willing to do that. Had a FSM magnet for awhile. Somebody stole it. I figured they must have needed it more than me.

You’re no doubt right. Maybe one of those vinyl precision cut custom decal alllll across the rear window?

The lack of bumper stickers in my liberal 'hood made me remark that I should make ones that say “Nothing that I believe is worth defacing my Prius for.”

I could go generic with “my classic car”… hmm, maybe I should customize them on demand. Then mine would say “Nothing that I believe is worth defacing The Very First Hybrid for.” For maximum snootiness.

Meanwhile, on topic, I’m praying that this will result in the Governor getting involved, and both he and the school go down in flames…

Fired for a common and routine vaccination, not to mention recommended by WHO, CDC and the White House?

I would thin it would very actionable.

I’ll do the thin’in’ around here, Babalouie.

I don’t know what OAS is, but you’re probably not an American, I’m guessing.

This idea of holding the employer accountable for such a policy, especially in Florida, would be pretty quaint to most Americans, though many if not most of us would be shaking our heads at it all the while.

You can always contest anything in court.

Whether or not it’ll hold up is a different matter. Florida is an at-will state, vaccination status is not an explicitly protected class (public safety notwithstanding), and the state of Florida has been opening things up recently rather than locking them down.

If the school has a half-way competent HR staff, they fire people without giving them any particular reason. This is pretty common. They just have to make sure they are covered in case they are accused of the firing due to race, religion, etc instead of literally any other reason.
