A couple years ago, my husband bought me one of those giant bean bag chairs with a “microsuede” cover. Well, our (indoor) cats (who don’t otherwise pee in inappropriate places) kept peeing on it. We kept taking the cover off and washing it. We tried putting some sort of cat deterrent on it. Eventually, we gave up and locked it up in a spare room.
Just yesterday we received a (dry clean only) down comforter I ordered. We left it spread out over a chair (which, coincidentally, is now where the bean bag chair used to be) to let it fluff up after being tightly packed for shipping. Sure enough, when I got up this morning, there was a large cat pee stain on it.
So, my questions are:
(mostly rhetorical) Why do my cats think big fluffy expensive things are for them to pee on?
Can I somehow clean this thing? Can the dry cleaner even clean this thing?
Now that they’ve peed on it once, do the cats think it’s theirs to pee on forever like the giant bean bag?
Are their litterboxes clean? Do you have an equal amount of litterboxes as cats? (So one doesn’t play “keep out” with the other - I’ve had that happen!)
There are 2 cats and 1 litterbox. It’s one of those electric ones that comb through the litter and push the clumps into a side bin which is emptied regularly, so it’s always clean. I’ve never seen the cats fight over it. The bean bag chair has been locked away for at least a year and they haven’t been peeing on anything else during that time.
There’s a smaller female and a larger somewhat fat male from the same litter. We think it’s the male that’s doing it. We’ve had this same litter box since they were kittens. They use the litter box most of the time. Like I said, this is the first thing he’s peed on since the bean bag chair was moved.
