For the last few days, whenever I leave my G-mail inbox open, my computer keeps getting bogged down and then I get an error message about a script not running properly. It looks like something is happening when G-mail tries to refresh my inbox. Anyone else experiencing this problem? I’d rather not have to resort to keeping G-mail closed in order to keep working on my computer.
Gmail tends to eat about 5-10% of my kernel time (running Firefox 2 on Win XP Pro SP2). That might not seem like much, but it creates a definite lag in mouse and keyboard response. I have to close it if I’m doing any serious file editing or number crunching.
Never noticed any problems and I always have two accounts open simultaneously.
I don’t have an answer for the OP, but if you guys use Firefox you can get the Gmail Manager add-in and it will show you new mail status and stuff for multiple accounts. That way you can not miss mail while not logged in to Gmail.
I’ve been staying signed out of G-Mail because of this “broken script” hang up. But it happened again!. Could it be the SDMB that’s breaking scripts and hanging up my computer?
I’m now looking askance at the Google ads at the bottom of threads. Are they using a script that could be fouling up my machine?
I’m hitting both Gmail and the SDMB frequently, and having no trouble. (Firefox on Windows XP)
Same here, Firefox 3 on Vista + Safari for second account.
Firefox 3 on Ubuntu + Opera for second account.
No problems.
Try clearing your cache & cookies. Set Firefox to clear private data on closing.
Run CCleaner if that doesn’t work.
Get it from Filehippo
Thanks for the suggestions
