Processor/Integrated Graphics comparison q

I’ve got on my laptop:

Pentium Dual CPU T3200 2.00 GHz
Intel 4 series integrated graphics. (Can’t get anything more specific than that from the device manager. To my recollection, it’s like a 4500HD or something like that.)

Civilization V requires:

Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz
“Core i3 or better integrated graphics”.

I am having a difficult time placing these two processors and these two GPUs on the “what’s better than what” spectrum. Can you help? Thanks…

the “Pentium” T3200 is a cut-down Core 2 Duo; I think the biggest difference is less onboard cache. in terms of CPU power what you have might just barely make it.

Found this page, which seems to indicate that core i3 is one step above my GMA 4500HD. It doesn’t indicate much about how different they are from each other, except by saying that the core i3 “distributes extra graphics power” while the GMA 4500HD doesn’t–whatever that could possibly mean.

Anyone know of a benchmark comparison?

I’ll be getting the game either way for my desktop, I’m just wondering whether it will play on the laptop as well. (Hoping so, since I had to disable my soundcard on my desktop since it turned out to be the source of a string of bluescreens I suffered. Seems not to be just the driver but hte card itself doing the dirty work :frowning: )

I doubt it will work on your laptop. Every pre-Core i3 integrated Intel graphics chip is just terrible. (The ones built into the Core i3/i5 processors are merely bad.)

The i3 is about twice as powerful as the 4500HD, but that still isn’t saying much. I think the i3 would be playable only on low quality.
