Progressive Bernie supporters, quick in here!

Godamnit. Bernie didn’t win. This next four years could’ve been so wonderful. He would’ve been so much better then Biden (who will probably lose to that criminal Trump). Bernie has been true to the cause for all his life, always did the right things, worked hard, spoke truth-to-power, and they went with someone like “sleepy Joe”! Bernie could’ve finally set the agenda away from corporate insider A versus corporate criminal B. As a Canadian I’m really sorry. You deserve better then the horrible leaders you get. I loved Bernie and wish we could get him up here for us. Alas.

But the revolution is over. They think just because they beat Bernie that they have won. Nope. The overton window has shifted. Bernie has made the progressive wing more powerful then they have ever been. All we need is more organized action. Outgrow them. Replace both those criminal Republicans AND the weak liberal Democrats. With enough effort and new blood it’ll never be business as usual. This next upcoming election will be a big one. We shouldn’t let this opportunity slip through our fingers. Your job now is to elect as many progressives as you can! A whole lot of seats are up for grabs. Now is not the time to sit out and let others speak for you. But until you get strong enough to make serious changes, you can still use those liberal Democrats as “useful idiots” to keep Trump from throwing everyone back into dark ages (and gleefully locking up babies).

Biden is old (like most Dems) eventually he’ll pass, its the young Sanderites who’ll inherit the next one. The corrupt system will fall, no one can change that but they can delay it if you sit idle and allow them. Go vote. Use all your actions, especially your political right. Defeat Trump AND defeat the Dems.

Agreed. Now is a great time to offer to phone bank or canvas for Biden and use his resources to spread the word for popular, progressive ideas like health care for all, a living wage, children out of cages and protecting social security.

Even if you aren’t American you can sign up to do phone banking for Biden.

If you are American and able, you should be out there doing what you can.

For progressive leftists, anything is a win.

Bernie wins the presidency? Great.

Trump gets another four years? He’ll make America so bad, and so ripe for progressivism, that a Bernie-type progressive will storm to victory in 2024 by an even bigger margin than he/she could have in 2020.
I am not being sarcastic in the least; this is truly a win-win situation for progressives. Ironically, it is a centrist like Biden winning the presidency in 2020 that could stymie the progressive cause more than Trump himself getting reelected.

Accelerationism is not an acceptable answer, Americans need not wait for the darkest point for the dawn. The left only truly loses when they no longer care about manifesting their self interest through social action.

Bernie may have lost his fight, but he has opened the viability of successful political action in the US for a young idealistic lefty; a Biden win cannot kill this.

Your schtick is tiresome.

It’s rather annoying that people can’t understand the point of this.

I congratulate you, orcenio, for doing what you can to help bring the progressives over to vote against Trump. I honestly can’t think this way, with the conspiratorial bent. But I’m on board.

Bernie (and Warren) did push the Dems to the left a bit more. That does make them better for now, while you start working at the ground level to add more progressives to the party, to unseat the more centrist Democrats.

I, who have pointed out several times, tend to agree with progressive principles. Hell, Warren was the one who I agreed with most. And, assuming you’re not pushing accelerationism, I am 100% on board with this.

Fight to pull us the right direction, and fight to get your candidates on the lower bench, and maybe you can get the Dems to not to be the center left party, but an actual left party. It may take time, as the country wises up, but never give up completely.

And, for now, vote against Trump to put Dems in a better position so that your candidates can get in there. I support them.

BigT–a guy who has been called socialist, SJW, too PC, and every other name that they give to those of us who actually support the progressive cause.

Aw shucks BigT. No worries though.

Those who don’t get it can be forgiven due to Poe’s law and all (I tried to add some hints, but it can be difficult). Those who do get it and turn snarky can be understood by the fact no one really likes to see a hyperbolic reflection of certain on-going political SDMB posts in the service of some smug jackarse’s point.

(I assume Jonathan Swift got much worse flack for “A modest proposal”)

I once wondered if ends-justify-means planning like this made sense. (“You won’t eat your vitamins? I’ll keep feeding you drain cleaner till you beg for a change.”) It doesn’t; these are bad ideas.

Nobody can predict the future well. Biden might be followed by someone more progressive. Trump might not be. Focus instead on the certainty: Four more years of Trump would do huge damage to the the country.

There is no way that a Trump win is better for our progressive agenda than a Biden win and a Democratic sweep. Centrists and moderates are already coming around to us. A Trump re-election, at minimum, pits the Supreme Court against the improvements we want to make for two decades or more.

As I mentioned in your other thread, 80% of Bernie supporters are already going to vote for Biden. Compared to 87% of democrats in general who will vote Biden.

So there really aren’t a huge number of Bernie voters left to convince. Maybe 5-7% who you need to work on.

Not just huge damage, but would the country even survive as something we’d all recognize. Would there even be anything like valid elections in 2024.

As much as “blue no matter who” annoys me as being taken for granted, the stakes are just too high this time.
