Update: Today’s mail brought me a coupon for a free Progresso item, up to $5.50. I’ll use it, but not for this.
Same. Disgusting. Bought 2. Gave one away.
The Campbells Well Yes soups are really, really good.
I agree!
I also get the Panera soups when I see them marked down, which the store down the street does do with perishables, and stock up my freezer.
Progresso Cream of Mushroom is HORRIBLE. DO NOT RECOMMEND
For my money, you can leave Progresso out of that one. I don’t like cream of mushroom as an ingredient or a soup, and I really like mushrooms.
Yeah, no mushrooms in sight in that
I’ve never purchased or knowingly eaten it, but it doesn’t even sound good.
I did use my coupon today, and got some Loaded Bacon & Potato soup, which I’ve had before and it’s pretty good, as canned soup goes.
If you’re not concerned about sodium, chuck all the soups and grab ya some Dinty Moore Beef Stew – it sticks to your ribs. Maybe for months.
I almost forgot what I saw marked down at the grocery store yesterday: fat-free half and half. It’s basically thickened skim milk. How can that be called half and half, anyway?
Half awful and half yuck?
I get Gerber’s Chicken baby food for my cat, and give her fish oil and potassium supplements mixed up in it. They recently changed the graphics, and the new labels don’t stick on very well. I e-mailed them and informed them of this (I’m probably not the only one) and today, I got coupons for $4 in free Gerber products in the mail.
… okay?
I’m sorry for you that the baby food labels for your cat aren’t… I guess, sticking so well?
That seems like a tragedy, and I hope you are able to soldier on through this hardship.
Ah, the humanity!
(I’m sure that Hindenburg commentator never lived that one down.)
They were coming off right there on the shelf, and that could result in lots of baby food having to be discarded as a result.
My daughter has said the same about canned soup, Campbell’s to be precise. She says they just taste too metallic, but she does sometimes enjoy a can of their tomato with a nice grilled cheese sammy.
Progresso’s Light Creamy Potato with Bacon and Cheese Soup - BLECCCCHHHHH!
I missed this thread when it first appeared.
The title makes me immediately think of a panel in the comic Asterix the Legionary, where Asterix and Obelix join the Roman Legion (for reasons too complicated to get into now). While rilling, they’re introduced to Roman Legionary Grub, which everyone loathes. Asterix has to find out what it is:
Asterix: Look, no joking, what IS this?
Cook: It’s corn, bacon, and cheese, all cooked together to save time.
Typically, the only one who actually likes it is SelectivEmploymenTax, the recruit from Brittanium, who licks his plate.
Asterix and Obelix go to have a quiet talk with the cook, in which they express their displeasure. He suggests that maybe they’d like a tasty treat. They agree. The cook says that this is all they’ll get. Obelix backhands the cook so that he goes flying and lands in his own cooking cauldron. After this point they are all served roasted boar suppers.
??
DuckDuckGo is uninformative; at least, unless what they were doing was creating a small stream.
Drilling. that is, performing soldierly exercises.
We make a bitchin tomato soup, but it starts with San Marzano tomatoes ($13/3 at Costco), milk, cream, onion, oregano, salt and pepper. So definitely not $2 a can that makes 4 servings. Served with gruyere/cheddar sandwiches–mmmm.
Aha!
I considered the possibility of a typo, but it didn’t occur to me what it was a typo for.
