Project Runway - 10/06

I can accept, even root for, a contestant on a reality show who is just a straight-up bitch, but Ivy is a passive-aggressive twat. If she had just confronted Michael and left it at that, ok. But she had to scurry around to every person who had not been in the sewing room and tell them what she did.

Michael C is playing the ‘wounded fawn’, and is general, far more savvy of the fact that he’s being filmed. I can’t fault him for that.

They’re for a NORMAL WOMAN’S ACTIVE LIFE (sorry I just felt like they were speaking all in caps every time they said it). I guess I’m not a normal woman or something, because I fail to understand how ANY of the designs ANYBODY made factors into an active lifestyle. You can’t wear them to work, you can’t wear them to parties, you can’t wear them to the gym, nobody would want to wear them to the park, and they all made me think of 80s aerobics classes. I don’t think any of them were 80s music videos, unless the music videos were about aerobics.

Heidi is becoming as annoying and self-aggrandizing as Tyra Banks, which is really saying something considering what an ego-maniacal tyrant Tyra is. Come on, what sort of ridiculous is a challenge that basically requires everybody to use gray jersey?

Having said all that, I’m glad Christopher was finally sent home. He’s been so boring for so long now I can’t think of anything I’ve ever liked of his.

At this point, I’m not really in love with any of the designers except Mondo. I don’t want Gretchen to make it to the final 3, but she consistently does just good enough to miss getting sent home, and I don’t see why that trend wouldn’t continue.

All right, finally finished most of the episode. Like most people, I agree everything was pretty meh to terrible.

One question though - I’m not really understanding what they mean about Andy’s stuff being “Halloween” themed. Another blog said it looks like skulls, but I just don’t see it. What am I missing?

Right. That’s true. But being disliked by Ivy is truly a high compliment.

ETA: Another vote for excellent editing, by the way, when she got hurt after saying that ‘the world will make sure Michael gets his’.

That was pretty awesome.

“I’m a big believer in karma. OUCH!!!”

The black and white piece, in particular, looked like a kid’s skeleton costume.

I really disliked Heidi and her attitude, as she chews people apart and then says they can’t take “constructive criticism”? Telling them which fabric to use. “It’s MY line and you’re going to do everything MY way, like it or not.” She came across as very bitchy, IMHO. The designers are constantly being told to be true to themselves… except for kissing Heidi’s (unattractive) boots. Bah. Small wonder that the results were pretty much blah.

The interpersonal stuff was just way beyond beyond. Ivy should have been kicked out; the prior contestants were brought in to HELP with sewing and construction, not to stir up nastiness. Who the fuck does she think she is? Tim shoulda taken her out of the project.

I don’t really disagree, but then who would fill in?

It was the part where they saw the rest of Heidi’s line. Did you not see the stuff she brought in for them to take inspiration from? Oy.

I thought that Heidi’s comments about Gretchen were funny because as far as I’m concerned Heidi was acting the exact same way.

I agree with what everyone has said about the challenge itself. I saw those clothes in Heidi’s “collection” and thought “Where’s the inspiration?” because I truly fail to see how anyone is supposed to be inspired by that ugly stuff. I agreed totally with gretchen when she came back from Mood after the second shopping trip and she said she hated the whole thing.

Also, when, when, WHEN is April going to be called out for using only black every freaking time? I think Tim should tell her to lay off the black, but he never does.

Yeah, taking her off would have been punishing her partner, not her.

Besides, if Tim had kicked her out, we may never have gotten to see her get a needle in the eye.

"Every time I want Mike C. out! But every time it’s like “Winner: Mike C., Winner: Mike C.”

That’s because it’s NOT SURVIVOR, Bittercakes.

I think Heidi was way out of line with Mondo. It was not constructive criticism and she talked down to him like he sucked, instead of having won the last 3 challenges. Tim looked extremely uncomfortable too because he would NEVER talk to a designer like that unprovoked, especially someone who is quiet and shy like Mondo. Tim doesn’t intrude into the design process, just guides. Heidi just busted in and it’s really hard to get your composure sometimes when someone flies in and tears apart your work as you’re still doing it.

In his video blog, Mondo says that he felt Heidi was mocking him in her workroom critique, and after watching it again, I have to agree. Mondo was explaining that since he wasn’t using prints or patterns, he was . . . and Heidi chirps in “Lost?” It was very snarky.

The snark escalated past “Do you see me going shopping in this?” to “Maybe a little Yorkie will fit in this [neck] hole.” Gosh, Heidi, Mondo said he hadn’t done a fitting yet – do you think he’s going to send a model down the runway with a blouse stuck on her head?

Furthermore, Mondo was rewarded for winning last week’s competition by having his favorite model taken from him – almost permanently.

Mondo did well despite the worst possible challenge for his style. However, his designs were too beautifully made and not nearly drab enough to be in Heidi’s line. Also, there was no way he was going to win for the fourth time in a row. If he had, they might just as well declare the competition over.

Heidi’s line on Amazon is generic and boring. And insanely expensive. Who would pay $88 for a pair of baggy grey sweatpants? They claim to be “go-anywhere clothes for women who want to look stylish and feel comfortable” but those are oversized clothes I’d buy on the discount rack and wear when I’m home with the flu.

Heidi is a bit of a bitch, isn’t she? She was pretty nasty to some of the designers in the workroom, but maybe that’s an attempt to rattle them up a little to make for a better show. I would love to see Mondo send a Yorkie down the runway on fashion week wearing a tiny dog version of that outfit. Yes, I realize the fashion week shows have already happened, but I can dream.

April. Cut it out. Everything is black and asymmetrical. We get it. Booty shorts, booty shorts, booty shorts. Stop it. How was she in the top three? I actually didn’t have any favorites in this challenge, but hers was probably my least favorite because who would wear that shit? Mike C’s wasn’t so bad, but he screwed himself over by daring to use a color.

I share your dream.

Mondo said he would take the disparaged blouse home and put it on his dog. If he doesn’t actually have a dog yet, he should get a Yorkie, name it Heidi, dress it like Heidi, and post photos on the Web.

Heidi has definitely been looking very Yorkie-like this season.

none of the contestants like Michael C( especially the women). This “they are just bullying this guy B.S.” is really getting out of hand.

EDITing means they leave out clips as well as splice things together to make the audience think/feel a certain way.

I believe MC is being edited this way because he is a finalist in this season’s show.

He is not the only self-taught designer in this season (Michael D) or any other season. But the fact that this group vocally dislikes him says more about is what is left on the cutting room floor than what is aired on Lifetime.

I am not say that Ivy is not a bitch… but the rest of the contestants (except MC) have only had positive things to say about her.

Are they claiming that Ivy was dubbed over and that those weren’t her words?

I’m sure they splice, cut, recut, juxtapose, and edit. And perhaps Michael C has some issues too. But Ivy’s behavior was reprehensible, and it’s on tape and broadcast to America. In episode 1, she said she wanted it to be “The Ivy Show.” Well, she got her wish in a genie in a bottle way, but people are definitely talking about Ivy.

Wow what a trainwreck all around.

The challenge was poorly thought out. What exactly were the scenarios the outfits were expected to be worn in?

The previews were horribly overhyped. Cheating scandal!! Well, not really. Contestant thrown off the show!! Oh not that either. Gretchen throws a fit! Only slightly. I’m especially annoyed because it’s not just the previews editors hyping/fooling us. Tim in interviews said we had some eye opening crazy stuff to look forward to.

Ivy was quite a bitch. I admit to not liking Michael C so much for initially, only because I wasn’t overly impressed with his winning designs. But he’s grown on me, if not as a designer, at least as a person.

And what is with the tape scandal anyway? Is tape seriously not allowed? I can’t imagine a real life runway situation (or red carpet for that matter) without the loving guidance of fabric tape. Without it, the term ‘wardrobe malfunction’ would evolve from an anomaly into a general epidemic.
