I think he only said that because he thinks he can beat her. I view it as a strategic move, rather than any approval of her.
They also just saw the judges fawn over her - it would be strategically idiotic to say that the judges obvious favorite shouldn’t go.
Despite the fact that SHE CAN’T SEW SLEEVES! (or do any other tailoring or fitting either. or put in fasteners. or create clothing that you can wear without being sewn into it because she doesn’t know how to make clothing in any practical sense.) The judges said they wanted “range” and she sent three sleeveless sheaths down the runway and won.
I think I’d be cheering for Anya if this was that show that had the designer/sewer pair (I don’t remember what it was) where the people designing were supposed to think color and shape and design elements and stuff but weren’t supposed to be at all concerned with construction. But I expect both sides out of PR contestants and she doesn’t have it. (They used to threaten to auf people for the quality of construction she’s shewn this season). Her consistent wins and praise really annoy me.
Josh’s cheerleader outfit was one of the fugliest things I’ve seen on any season of this show. Simply horrid. He should have be auffed for that alone.
And Laura. We were so tired of her whining and sniffling about how she waaannnts it sooo bad, boo hoo. Yeah right. Like the rest don’t. And I want a pony.
It’s an indication of the low level of talent this season that Anya is anywhere near the finals. She’s the most overpraised designer in the history of this show. At least Gretchen could sew.
I would have auffed Kimberly instead of Fashion Barbie. Her color choices were hideous. That shade of orange was just dreadful and unflattering. One of her tops was nothing but hookerwear. She has mediocre skills and bad taste. Josh’s was almost as bad. His see through lycra dress was seriously fug and so was that cheerleader top.
All in all a very unimpressive season.
I have to agree that this had not been the best season. I think the top 4 wouldn’t have made it this far in any other season. That said, I did like Anya’s 3 looks. She was smart to pick Bert.
Did anyone else catch Anya’s spoiler in “After the Runway?”
Possibly serious spoiler, don’t complain if you click!
The Host commented that it’s not, after all, “Project Seamstress.” Then Nick jumped in to defend that position rather strongly. Then Anya started talking about how hard it was on her fellow contestants that she had so little sewing strength " and yet I WON . . . some of the challenges." Whereupon the host jumped in nervously to accentuate that it was the challenges they were discussing.
It seemed too obvious to have let slip in editing. :smack:
And speaking of “Papa” Nick, is it just me, or was he auditioning for Tim’s Job?!? Could the weepiness have been because Tim knows this pathetic group will be his last?
Part one of the finale tonight.
Hated the jumpsuit. I sort of liked the LBD, although it was so fitted I was trying to decide if she’s had a tictac or a lifesaver before she went on the runway. And I’m so over Josh’s boohooing over the death of his mom. Every designer has lost someone they loved, but he just wears it like a huge sandwich-board placard.
Hated the purple bubble-butt skirt.Thought the sparkly gown was okay but it looked too simple.
A bathing suit? A plain black tank suit? I noticed that nothing in Anya’s collection had sleeves.
Victor’s looks were good. I’m wondering if he’s going to give the jacket to Heidi.
And what a shocker ending! Soon they’ll have 14 contestants in Fashion Week. Oh, and Josh’s little meltdown about Anya - “I don’t think either of them should be allowed to show” Right after his "it’s been an honor and I love you all.
I may be a cold-hearted bitca, but tears and emotions on shows like this always make me cold. I always think they seem forced for the camera.

I thought nothing could top Gretchen instead of Mondo as winner last season. I was wrong.
That was awful. Dreadful. Horrid. Dreck. Vile.
What the hell are the judges smoking? Who the hell cares about styling and accessories?
They all sucked. Okay Victor didn’t suck.
But my god did the rest of them suck! First we get Anya and her bullshit collection. We get the badly sewn dress, ugly bathing suit with the blah coverup and the print dress a competent ninth grader could make. Then we get Kimberly and her truly ugly purple roach skirt, odd color palette and boring long dress. Then comes Josh with his weird jacket, stupid pants and something else he did I don’t care to remember.
Most of those clothes would have gotten contestants auffed in the first three weeks in earlier seasons. An entire hour and half of my life only to get judges praising some of the worst sewing – not even looks – ever to cross the line. It was like Project Runway: The Special Olympics episode. Let’s send them ALL to fashion week even though they all suck.
This is the season of no-talent, pretentious twits. Josh’s voice alone makes me want to stuff a pillow on his head just to shut him up. Why he does he go through life doing a constant Joan Crawford imitation? And why has he not been smacked around a few times for it?
I can’t wait to see All Stars so we can finally see some people with talent.
They pushed back All Stars til January.
I found Anya’s clothes to be very disappointing. Jeez, what did she do the first 3 weeks? Nothing! I understand procrastination probably better than the average person, but good god lady, you blew it. I knew they wouldn’t kick her off, though- with her track record for the rest of the show, they wouldn’t boot her for one bad showing.
So - the finale collections are always kind of weird because so many of them have no idea what to do with themselves.
Except for Anya, who still can’t sew. The one dress was ok, but it didn’t seem original at all. Her gown was horrible and the bathing suit was in a horrible color (I know she said that it might work on someone with darker skin, but I think that’s one of those colors that looks universally bad on everyone.
Kimberley, her first look was something that I would have coveted in 1987. When I was a teenager. And had really bad taste. The second “she could go to work…” not unless she works as a hooker. That skirt was ugly and trampy. Horrible. Her gown was inoffensive.
On my TV (smallish, non HD), Viktor’s pants looked like a maxi-pad accident. Perhaps, up close, where you could clearly see the pattern it was better. It just didn’t work from a distance. I loved the combination of the leather jacket and the gown, but since the judges don’t, he shouldn’t do it again.
Josh’s overly labored, overly paused speaking is really annoying. But I liked the jacket and the whole look pretty much worked. The little black dress didn’t work for me, but it wasn’t bad. I had the same reaction as Michael Kors to that horrid leotard thing. It looked pretty good from the front, and then she turned around and I remembered everything I hate about Josh’s designs.
Several someones should have been auffed. And, the first two should have been Michael and Nina. At this point, I’m only watching to see whether it can possibly get any worse.
Was Heidi wearing a Mondo design?
I’d hoped that Anya spent the weeks learning to sew, but apparently not.
I have a feeling that without being given a specific challenge or task, with parameters given to them, they just didn’t have the vision to actually make clothes.

I was puzzled with the home visit with Anya. For someone who’s just learned to sew four months ago, she has a lot of expensive industrial equipment. I’d have expected a “My First Singer” of the sort you can buy at fabric shops for about $100.
And add me to the list of people who are irked but not terribly surprised that she was allowed to go on to show at Fashion Week.
I get the feeling that Anya’s family has money. I doubt it’s cheap to campaign yourself to Miss Universe.

Anya, OMG. When Tim showed up and found nothing but bolts of cloth he should have lit into her. I mean really? I was so glad she was goign to be auffed, I was actually looking forward to coming on here and annoucning that my spoiler guess above was incorrect. What a travesty!
I loved Kims Blue stripey palatte, but I hated the bubble butt skirt. From the back I totally get thaesthetic, even though it’s not something I would wear, but from the front it was just horrendous.
Josh should totally have been auffed for that jumpsuit. And banned from the fashion industry. For life. Anyone who would do that to a woman should not be allowed to make money dressing us.
Oh, that was a no-brainer. Everyone knew she’d get in, although I had a smidgen of doubt when I saw her mini collection
Viktor’s jacket was the only decent piece on that runway.
That, that was a pretty nice boat she fetched Tim in. Besides, she’s said that she had done a clothing line before coming to the show, presumably meaning that she did the sketching and fabric selection and a team of seamstresses did the actual production.
I almost* felt sorry for her during the runway last night, though. I think she really did think her stuff was good, and why wouldn’t she? She’s sent down worse-made things than that gold dress plenty of times, and gotten praised to the skies for her construction. Then they switched the traces on her and were halfway honest about how shitty her sewing is. It’s a little cruel to build someone up and then yank the carpet under them like that.
Of course, I knew she was staying in. Tim’s public FB feed had a little blurb the other day about not letting the home visits fool us, we were in for a big surprise.
*Almost. Not quite. She did, after all deserve a lot worse feedback, and has all season. Better designers than her have been booted for lesser crimes against fabric.
I predict lots of indignation in this thread over the winner…
I honestly thought she had the best collection.
I am just glad Josh didn’t win. Those green shorts were fugly. No woman would ever choose to wear those, and the long strings hanging down…
Victor had it all and then choked. If he didn’t change some of his designs at the last minute from his patterned look to the sheer stuff he would have won easily.
Anya’s collection was the nicest looking, though they were all basically the same thing - a long flowing patterned dress. Has she ever even made something with sleeves? But her stuff was at least wearable. I knew she would end up winning the whole thing when last week it became obvious that the judges had all 4 of them show just to keep her in the game. She was their least favorite that time but they did not want to send her home.
Kimberly was nothing special.
