I don’t know how to pronounce the name of the artist Cat Power partly because I don’t know how to parse it. Is it pronounced Cat POWer, as if it were her name, or CAT Power, as in the power of cats?

I have always heard it as Cat Power as the power of cats.

Her real name is Chan Marshall.
