Proper Perversions

Cecil’s not much of a pervert, is he?

First and foremost, foot fetishism really has nothing to do with BDSM. The two certainly can ‘cross’ but don’t necessarily.

Second, The pony play he talks about here “equus eroticus” has nothing at ALL to do with those nutty deviants who love feet or shoes. Not that a creative pervert couldn’t add that element should he/she choose. But they’re very different topics of…umm…“adoration.”

Retifists are people who get off on shoes. Podophiles…people who love feet. If any physician ever called foot freakism ‘equus’ anything he/she obviously wasn’t any more of a pervert than Cecil.

Anything else you want to know about BDSM, just give me a whistle

Sincerely,

I’m pretty sure that’s just what he said in this week’s column.

He mentions he only found a few BDSM people referring to foot fetishism as pony play (which was the question in the first place).
He then goes on to describe the correct definition.

…You mean referring to foot fetishism as “equus eroticus.” There is a book seller we found online (you can find everything online) who specializes in books about podiatry called Equus Books, and the guy who runs it explained that the name “Equus” came from a Greek God who was “fleet of foot.” If anyone can shed any light on this Greek god, I’d appreciate it. I couldn’t find info. on him anywhere.

There’s nothing of the sort in the Oxford Classical Dictionary.

The letter koppa disappeared from the Greek alphabet (except as a numeral) in the preclassical period. No Greek word has any damn business being spelled with a Q in English.

Equus is, of course, Latin for “Horse”. (Greek for “horse” is “hippos”.)
