Proposal For NW DopeFest

And **Bumbazine ** honey, I am really NOT all that young. Just didn’t want to be dishonest.

And now I’m nonplussed. (I’ve always wanted to use that word.)
I’d dearly love to meet you too Scotti, but there will be other opportunities. Please, I beg you, don’t change your plans on my account. And besides, some of the other Portland Dopers are pretty huggable too. (if you tell anybody I said that, I’ll deny it.) Though I’d watch the hands on some of them, if I were you.

And to keep the record straight, compared to me, all you folks are young, ('cept maybe Czarcasm  )

[sulkyvoice] Well, okay.[/sulkyvoice]

Whatever date works for everyone else is fine with me. My Labor Day Weekend is yours if that works best. And I forgot to talk to Audrey and KK about transportation, but we can work that all out later.

BTW, darlin’, how do you expect me to watch the hands on anyone if I am HUGGING them at the time?

I know I’m given to making suggestions, and then not showing up, but Saturday works better for me, I’m off Sunday to visit family in Eureka. Have we decided where in Portland this shindig will take place? A park with a barbeque would be ideal, but can we get one on Labor Day weekend?

Regarding transportation, AudreyK and I have talked it over and a train sounds like fun.

She’s never been on a train, you see (unless the monorail at one of the malls counts), and I’ve been on only three train rides in my life (one of which when I was so little that I only vaguely remember the trip), so the novelty of riding on a train is still very much alive with both of us, plus it’s a nice way to see some landscape. (Really, even after living in Hawaii, the sheer volume of greenery in WA and Oregon is stunning.)

One thing, though, do people get motion sick on trains?

It’s possible - but it isn’t any worse than riding in a car (smoother, in my opinion).

August, and a train - hmmmm. I may need to start saving up for this.

Fourth of July KABOOM!

WELL…seeing as how it is Labor Day Weekend and we failed to organize this, I would like to say that I have not lost interest in doing a PNW Dopefest involving trains and Portland. I have a family situation which precluded me from attending this weekend, and if anyone had moved forward with this I would have had to say that I couldn’t come. Since it didn’t, I didn’t post my inability to attend.

But now, I would like to know…is anyone else still interested in doing this? If so, lets pick a date and DO IT! I can make myself free most weekends coming up, with enough notice.

I would be interested, I wondered if anything had been planned for this weekend–I’ve had limited access recently and haven’t been checking in–did ya’ all miss me?

Picking an arbitrary date, just to get the ball rolling–how about the first weekend of October? Gives us time to make travel arrangements, find a place and get organized (well, as organized as we can). And the weather should still be good, if a bit nippy in the evening.

Now that Scotticher has put the ball into play, and I’ve made a suggestions (which will end up being a date I can’t make it, because that’s how my life works), let’s see where this goes.

Darn! The first two weeks in October are out for me. My new grandchild is due the on the ninth of the month.

Mayhaps I could make the next PNW Dopefest?

Well, how about the last weekend in September?

Works for me. Sorry about the Labor Day bust, but I’m working the whole weekend anyway. Where to meet?

KKB and I haven’t talked about it yet, but I assume we’d be up for it. The last weekend of September works for us as well.

Ah, yes. Living at least one and a half hours’ drive too far up cancels this one out for me. (even though technically the Pacific Northwest does include us benighted scoundrels who dare to live north of the border in BC ;)) Besides, since I don’t have a car (or drive, for that matter  ), it would be rather dodgy arranging transportation. Hope y’all have fun!

I thought Amtrak went all the way to Vancouver, Flam honey?
