Who doesn’t?
Ryle, when a prostitue is murdered, the police often don’t investigate thoroughly, because it’s “just a whore.” Cowgirl’s cites suggest that. If a john is murdered, I’d expect a more detailed investigation because it’s a regular guy, not some worthless street walker.
Like it or not, the attitude is there. Go ahead, beat up your whore, she won’t go to the cops, because they’ll just arrest her. Feel like killing someone, pick a prostitute or a homeless guy, easy targets and the cops won’t care.
Evil Captor had the best take on it “prostitutes are treated like shit for no good reason.”
Can I get a cite on that, please?
Even with my natural cynicism, I don’t think there are really murders that cops don’t investigate thoroughly.
You think maybe it could seem that way because murders of prostitutes are often dead end investigations, and that they are dead-end because of the nature of the prostitutes business? Most of their customers being strangers and freaks and all.
I kinda figure there is thoroughly investigated and thoroughly investigated. I might be overly cynical on this, if someone wants to disagree I’ll listen, but it does seem that a LOT of prostitute deaths don’t get solved.
If it is the nature of the business that makes them juicy targets, let’s not forget that our lawmakers can change the nature of their business. They’re forced onto the street because it’s illegal, and they can’t have a ‘storefront’. They take random guys to secretive places because they can’t have a secure home base that won’t get raided.
Do you equate thoroughly investigated with solved? Just because it wasn’t solved doesn’t mean there wasn’t a thorough investigation and that no effort was put into it. I mean, if you’ve seen Feast of Death, (very interesting film) you’ll see that cops and reporters are STILL investigating the Black Dahlia murder and still have not solved it, and its been 50 some years.
I really don’t think the cops say “it was just a streetwalker, hell with it, lets get some donuts”. Cops may noy like or respect prostitutes, but they want killers put away, regardless of who they kill.
The possiblility that the killer was a’random’ guy is exactly what makes the investigation difficult. Random guys are really hard to find. Kinda hard to narrow that field down. Think of the logistics. Is the guy local or from out of town? Maybe even from out of state? They would need a lucky break or an act of stupidity by the killer to catch him. A john being killed is quite different. You start with a relatively small pool of suspects.
Not all prostitutes are streetwalkers. From documentaries I’ve seen , streetwalkers are kinda the low rung on the ladder and take to the street because that’s where the business is and that’s where they can attract customers. I don’t know if legalizing prostitution will change that.
(yes), Feel free.
Are you talking about keeping her physical appearance top-notch? I can see a call girl doing that, because they’re supposed to look like models. But I don’t imagine Shirley on the corner of Hollywood and Vine (yes, that’s a low-rent district nowadays) spends much time at the gym.
Or what are you talking about? Practicing blowjobs on a cucumber? Kegel exercises?

Long hair + you’ve had gorgeous girlfriends = you’ve seen johns on the prowl. I don’t even get the connection between long hair and having seen guys cruising.
Ditto. I didn’t see anything mysogonist about it, and I AM a woman.
