I wonder how long before he is caught. I suspect there are many “patriots” who will aid him.
That’s many more who can be put in prison.
Funny, I don’t think we released any of the 9/11 hijackers pending sentencing. And they had a far less extensive support network in the USA.
Perhaps we should have a DOJ policy against releasing convicted traitors and terrorists on their own recognizance.
Pull their passports too. Many don’t have them I suppose, but some do.
Sorry, the concept of a 9/11 hijacker surviving the crash long enough to be apprehended and tried, let alone sentenced kinda made my head asplode a little.
Do’h!!! Yep none of those survived to be arrested, much less released.
Although there were some ground-based conspirators later arrested and “stored” in Gitmo. They were who I was trying to talk about.
Sorry to asplode your head with my crappy writing.
Maybe he went to join his compatriot who asked for asylum in Belarus.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find that he took his own life, under the notion that he’d rather be dead than in jail.
You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.
I was annoyed at first too, but there’s cause for why the judge placed him under house arrest. Following the AP links leads to this:
“It’s clear to me the civil rights of the defendant were violated by the D.C. Department of Corrections,” Lamberth said. “I don’t know if it’s because he’s a January 6 defendant or not.”
The judge ordered Quincy Booth, the director of the city’s Department of Corrections, and Wanda Patten, the warden of the DC Jail, to be held in contempt of court. While he did not impose any sanctions or penalties the judge said he was referring the matter to the Justice Department to investigate whether the civil rights of the inmates in the jail are being violated.
The judge’s ruling in Worrell’s case comes after he found there was more than an “inexcusable” delay of jail officials turning over medical documents. Worrell, who broke his wrist in May, had been recommended for surgery in June but still hasn’t undergone the procedure.
After the judge learned last week that the surgery still hadn’t happened, he ordered the jail system to turn over notes to the U.S. Marshals Service — because Worrell is a federal inmate housed in the local jail — so the Marshals Service could move forward and approve the medical procedure. But on Tuesday, the jail still hadn’t sent the records and the judge ordered the city jail officials to appear in court for a contempt hearing.
A lawyer for the jail had argued that they had been working to get the records together to comply with the court’s order before the contempt hearing was set.
“He’s needed an operation. He hasn’t gotten it,” the judge said.
The article is from October 13, 2021. He broke his hand in May, surgery was recommended in June, but the DC jail he was in was still sitting on its ass doing nothing about it come October. I doubt he had been convicted yet at this point unless sentencing took two years.
Something tells me not very well, though.
Christopher John Worrell, 52, of Naples FL is the disappeared guy. I don’t think he’s taken his own life. I think he’s found a hole to live in, in hiding, for as long as he can. Just like Osama BL did. Now, as the authorities close in on him, that’s when he might take his own life.
I suspect a lot of these goons desperately fantasize about being mercenaries. Despite the fact they never served in a real military.
So to them “mercenary” means they can go someplace exotic and slaughter locals at will while stealing their stuff & their daughters. All while somebody else pays for the ammo and provides spending money to boot. It’s an aggressive racist’s dream job.
So, can’t they still imprison these people while fixing the prison mismanagement?
I’m guessing he was probably going to end up with less than 14 years, before the disappearance.
Now, it will likely be at least that long.
Reread the article. The judge held the director of the city’s Department of Corrections and the warden of the DC jail in contempt of court for failing to do as the court instructed and had to order the US Marshals Service to take possession of Worrells medical notes so they could go forward and approve the surgery because the jail was doing nothing to fix the situation that they were causing. They were sitting on their asses for half a year instead of signing the paperwork for his surgery. They jail’s management had already failed to follow the courts instructions to fix themselves.
On the plus side, when he’s caught the two years he spent on house arrest doesn’t count as time served on his sentence, if he’d remained in jail they would count. House arrest is still imprisonment, but it’s a funny kind of imprisonment that doesn’t count as imprisonment for time served. Them’s the rules. And I’m pretty sure the government is going to get the 14 years they were going to ask for, and he’s going to be facing fresh charges of fleeing.
He’s probably counting on Trump getting reelected and pardoning him. He just has to stay hidden until January 2025.
That assumes of course the insurrection that time succeeds. Which it might if people more competent than the “proud boyz” are in charge of insurrecting.
He has cancer, all he has to do to die is nothing.
Just like the rest of us. In his case it might be a bit quicker.
