PS3 Questions

A question or two for people who own a PS3.

  1. What reasons are there for me to buy a 60G vs. 20G version of the PS3? What benefits come with the extra space? Is it upgradeable if one buys the smaller version?

  2. Being that it is intended largely for HD capable hardware, does one need to buy different cables and other hardware if one just has a regular tv with stereo hookups?

I ask these questions because I may buy one and need to know what the real costs would be if I had to buy extra cables or whatever. I am also looking to get the most bang for my buck, which is why I am curious about the 20G vs. 60G thing.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t own a PS3, but I can answer your questions :

I would definitely go for the 60 Gigabyte version.
You probably will be able to download HD movies which will take at least 4 gigabytes of space.
It is better to have too much diskspace than too little.

It should come with the necessary cables for hooking it up to a regular tv.
People who want to hook it up to an HDTV will have to purchase another set of cables.

I’d say get the 20GB version and see how it goes, the hard drive is easily upgradable. If you do it yourself you’ll get a bigger drive for the same or less money:

As far as the cables, if you want the best connection get an HDMI cable (assuming the PS3 doesn’t already include one.) Don’t pay $100 for one of those Monster cables. With digital signals noise and interference aren’t as much of a concern. I’d suggest buying one here:
