pseudo-rant to pimpwars participants

Ok. magdalene thinks that MSK’s complaints are getting old and/or lame. But MSK’s OP was impersonal and about a game/group of people. magdalene’s comment smacked of an unfair personal attack. I just wanted to speak up before this turned into a “Roast MSK fest” for all the wrong reasons. If we’re gonna roast 'im, let’s at least do it for the pimps of this world. Make it a noble cause, not this petty bickering.

BTW, I wonder if I could nominate this thread for the “Most Smilies in the Pit” award. At last count we were at 16. Woo hoo!

Couldn’t ‘juvenile’ be taken as a personal attack by those who happen to be playing the game? At the very least, it’s condescending.

I’m not condoning personal attacks here, but I think when you start a Pit thread to complain about the actions of others, you open yourself up to scrutiny of your past actions. And if you’re guilty of doing the same thing as what you’re bitching about, then you should be well aware that you’ll have it pointed out to you, and it probably won’t be pointed out in a very pleasant way. It’s the Pit. Most responses come laced with acid.

Like MSK himself said, if you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

If he just wanted to know other posters’ opinions of the Pimpwar/Redlite games, he should have put this in IMHO.

Hey now, Hey now – cool out, foxy mama! Ain’t no need to step like a jive turkey and spoil the fun. Tell you what, c’mere and let big dadday mouthbreather cure what ails ya. It’s good for the soul, sugar!

HEY! I have an IDEA!

Why don’t you just “not hang around people who like to talk about Pimpwars”?

Clinton flashback. Ewww.

I like to play Clue, Risk, and Twister. Jeezus! I wonder what that says about me?!?!?!

Diane, that means that you will gain world domination by killing off your enemies by contorting your body in a sexual manner.

Mad enough to channel the punctuation style of ee cummings, I note.

[sub]I shouldn’t, but I can’t help myself*

Eye dont no if youre rite. Were not going to brek anee lawz bye pickin awn anyones. If eye giff ewe youre brass knuckles bekaws youre mad we mite haff a fite. An that wood be bad.

Wat wood society bee like if we all tuk are brass knuckles everytime thers somethin that makes us mad? We wood be disabled areselfs in KNOW time! Eye can tell ewe that!

Even wurst than everyone getting there brass knuckles wood be if everyone rote long run on sentences witch kept going and going and going but sometimes called the person that they were tryin to defend “less socially disabled” and “disabled” despite the fact that it mite bee seen as an insult to the person that theyre tryin to defend but thats ok as long as we have are brass knuckles to fight our neighbors with.

Of course, I could also talk about those people who hit “post” instead of “preview”. If some kind mod happens to see that mess, a [/sub] after the first sentence would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, that you’re my kind of gal, for one…

Though it would be even better if you’d named “Diplomacy”, “Chess”, “Kremlin”, “Fantasy Baseball”, and “Strip Poker”.

Re the OP, I’ve got nothing against MSK, having replied to at least one or two of his “personal” threads. To give him a friendly word of advice, though, a prolific thread starter like himself might be better served being a bit more tolerant of threads that he isn’t interested in. This isn’t the first time MSK has “taken offense” to a thread he didn’t care for:

I’m not a “pimpwars” player, myself. (I’m not familiar with it, so I don’t have a lot to say about it, good or bad.)

But I’m a firm believer in the “don’t like it, don’t read it” school of reading/posting: be it flirting threads, religious threads, pit rants, etc…I just don’t understand the thinking behind opening (and then bitching about) a thread that you KNOW you aren’t going to like. Goodness knows we have enough threads to please just about anyone in the various forums.

Like any of you needed to hear yet ANOTHER voice on this…

Honestly, given its advocates here, I expect I’d have laughed my ass off at the pimpwars thing. But I never read it. It’s that easy to avoid–and I wasn’t even a potential offendee! Let us pretend for a moment that I’d been TRYING to avoid it, that I’d been the type to get offended by it… all I’d have to do is skim over the title, note with mild exasperation that it’s now up to XX pages and isn’t dropping off the board, and move the hell on. It’s that simple.

If someone is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to open threads you don’t like, and forces you to keep on reading them to the point where you get sick of them, then that’s another matter, one for your local police force.

I really doubt that’s the case.

MSK, you’ve been open about sharing the troubles in your life and I know you’re seeking help with a lot of them. I admire that. This problem is a simple one, though, and one you can solve entirely on your own: don’t open or read threads that bore you.

As a general rule, though, I don’t share the attitude of some of you that the appropriateness of a thread or the sharing of personal perspectives about it (unless full of praise) is verboten. I think there are times when it’s useful to bounce around some ideas about the ramifications of certain content on the community here, for example. I don’t think people raising those questions should be told to “just skip the threads.” But when it comes down to being personally “sick and tired” of a thread, then yeah, solve your own woes by staying out of the thread.
