He may well be toys-in-the-attic nuts and a right bastard to boot, but to ever walk the planet? Come ON. :dubious:
I’m sure on some level he’s detached, he’d have to be, either he;
Killed his wife and disposed of her body, and doesn’t know where the investigation is leading.
Killed his wife and disposed of her body, and knows exactly where the investigation is leading, and it’s going away from him.
Didn’t kill her, and knows it, and thinks “screw you guys, I didn’t do it, but I’m glad she’s gone, and while we’re at it, boogity-boogity-boogity”
In any case, he’s drawn unnecessary attention to himself, but I’m sure not everyone handles this kind of pressure the same way. I mean, if I were under that kind of scrutiny and suspicion, everytime I saw a video camera, I would let fly a string of convoluted expletives that would peel paint, just so they couldn’t use the footage.
As far as Savio goes, there are probably plenty of explanations for why she was where she was, and I’d just love to wait until the coroner hands down an official ruling.
And how would using a string of convoluted expletives preclude the news media from using that sort of footage? In today’s ratings-driven world of television, they’d just put a blur over your mouth, mute the audio, and broadcast the footage to show the world you’re capable of being an uncouth asshole. That would surely win you a ton of fans.
If I’m Drew Peterson, what do I care if I win ‘fans’? I don’t HAVE to win fans, I have to prove I’m innocent to a court of law when and if I’m charged, as opposed to the court of public opinion, which is meaningless. Further, as a cop, I know I’ve been hated for what I do for as long as I’ve done it, so what do I care if a cadre of media vultures and ‘true crime’ wonks think I suck?
Don’t scratch your head over something that is so small and inconsequential. If you agree that the man–guilty or innocent–is acting against his legal best interests by courting the press as he has had, even though he should know better than that being that he’s a cop, then you shouldn’t be in disagreement with me.
I have a friend who is a retired police detective and that is exactly his take on the story. He believes that Peterson is taking a very calculated risk: that he has disposed of his wife’s body in a place where it will absolutely never be found, and that without a body the DA either won’t charge him or can’t prosecute him successfully due to lack of other evidence. Beyond that he clearly doesn’t care what people think of him; it’s no crime to be an insensitive asshole.
Nobody ever said it was. We said it’s a pretty legitimate indicator that, given the circumstances, he’s anything but innocent. O.J. wasn’t convicted either, but everyone knows he did it and the outcome of his little civil suit seemed to agree. He’s still doing a fine job of proving himself to be an insensitive asshole, as the wake of bullshit that follows him around lately surely proves.
For some reason, there seems to be an odd correlation between being an insensitive asshole and a tendency to commit unscrupulous or criminal acts. Imagine that.
