Anyone else playing this game? I just picked it up for the PC (only $29 too!) and I am LOVING it. It’s so whimsical and entertaining. The dialogue is hysterical, too. I’m not the biggest fan of the ol’ 3rd-person perspective, but here it’s not too bad. Extremely imaginative game.
We just picked this one up, too. It’s a hoot.
So is this game about about a cowboy-clad Goth band kicking all kinds of ass? No? OK, then…
And here I was thinking this thread would be about people sharing LSD-experiences…
It’s on my short list. I’ll probably pick it up in the next week or so.
I’m playing it, and I also gave one to my sister for her birthday. I’m a *good * brother.
For those in the know the game’s designer, Tim Schafer, is also the genius behind Day of the Tentacles and Grim Fandango.
I’m playing it with my son now. It’s probably more fun for him than me, but it is quite a creative game. The character design is…interesting.
Oh yeah: if anyone can tell me how to save that darned turtle, I’d appreciate it. We’re currently stuck on that, and Gamespot’s guide seems incomplete on what to do. using the birthday cake aint working, and the telekinetics “can’t get a grip”
This and Destroy All Humans are my next purchases if:
- My fascination with WoW lets up enough for another game to get some time in on my PC and
- Destroy All Humans ever gets released. I’ve been waiting for it since forever!
I just finished it a few days ago. What a great game. I loved Day of the Tentacle as well.
I wish you could explore the camp grounds more, though. Once it turns dark, it isn’t much fun, and near the end of the game you can’t get back to the camp at all. Also, the Meat Circus is a PITA (mmmm, meat pita).
You do use the birthday cake. In fact, if you mind read the turtle you’ll notice that he sees you as a birthday cake. Get the cake from upstairs, then come back down and use it on the turtle tank. It will drop in the hole on top of the tank, then the turtle will walk over to it. You should then be able to PK the turtle up through the hole.
oops
TK (telekinesis) not PK (pyrokinesis)
I seem to have hit a game bug. The first time I tried it, the turtle crawled towards the cake under the hole. I then tried telekineting him out of the tank, and somehow mad-scientist boy noticed and back poof I’m back in the “waiting room”. After that action, the turtle was stuck floating in the tank’s hole, and telekinetics “can’t get a grip”.
If I reload the game, the turtle is already under the hole, and using the cake only causes Raz to say, “c’mon mister pokeylope! Come and get your cake!”. I can try telekineticing him just once, and the turtle won’t come out of the tank, he’ll just get stuck floating upside down or rightside up just inside the hole.
OK, I just tried it for the 20th time, and this time the turtle finally came out. Thanks for the help!
No problem. Glad it worked out. I also had a game bug where one of the items I bought at the store disappeared from my inventory, and I had to go buy it again.
It’s a shame when a good game has bugs, but if the game is good enough I can look past them and enjoy it anyway. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind was buggier than my first apartment, but it’s still one of my favorite games, and I can’t wait for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivian on the XBOX 360.
I just beat it a few weeks ago. Loved it.
I liked how you could use your powers on all the people and they had different responses.
I have a question for people who have been through the minds of the people in the inner asylum courtyard:
Are there any actual games like the Waterloo thing? That would be fun in real life if it were more balanced.
That level was brilliant.
