Though it failed to make the coalition of the wilting any friends, it did scare the shit out of a lot of people; and as has been noted elsewhere: fear is the agent of control.
I would not put it past the CIA to have thought that the cost/benefit of the leak would go in coalition favor in the long run.

But let us be frank, torture has been going on since forever, and allot of it out in the village square. Which ignores that fact that they haven’t gotten much support, inside or outside the US. The point is that your chain of events doesn’t lead to your conclusion, in fact it leads to the exact opposite.
There’s no evidence that these two events are related.
There’s no evidence that these two events were done as a PsyOps.
There’s no evidence that these two events would have the result you claimed.
There’s no evidence that these two events have had the effects you claim they already had.
At this point, I don’t see this discussion going anywhere until you come up with something tangible.

If I can squeeze in before the lockdown, the only connection that might be made between the Abu Graha- uh… photos and psyops is the line of speculation connecting the NeoCons’ embrace of the ideas put forth in the book Inside the Arab Mind, which really talked up the role of shame as a motivator.
There was some speculation that the situations may have been staged and photographed to manufacture something to hold over the prisoners. (ie; “These guys may not have any valuable intelligence now, but they might be motivated to go back into the field and do intelligence work for us, if the alternate is these photos being made public.”)
It makes a perverse kind of sense, and I regret to say that I wouldn’t be unbelievably surprised to find out that that’s why it happened. (It’s certainly easier to get your head around than a bunch of grunts just “letting off steam” when no-one was looking. Whatever that’s worth.)
But taking the pictures with the intent of releasing them as an end in itself – that’s something I can’t comprehend anyone being simultaneously twisted and stupid enough to contemplate. To what benefit?

What part of this war has been well planned? What part of this war followed the script that the coalition had for the Iraqi people? All that careful planning and strategy has led to a downward spiral of violence, that for some reason, the western planners did not factor in. Or some did factor in but were contrary to party line so did not get included in the programing. CIA has a stellar history in terms of misjudging the populations they are attempting to control. For generations now they have fucked up and fucked with many sovereign nations with psyops. The psyops in this war have been disastrous: The staged tearing down of the Sadam statue, the faked newspaper stories, the questionable spider hole, etc. How much more twisted and stupid can ya get? Just because something backfires/does not work the way one thought it should does NOT change the intentions.
