So, I assume that if Ruth Bader Ginsberg leaves the Court during the Trump Administration, you will want him to nominate someone in her mold?
Gorsuch? Any relation to Reagan’s crazy cabinet member?
No way. His dad shot Kennedy. National Enquirer said so, and they’re a reliable news source. #AlternativeFact
Almost Shakespearian an insult.
“Why, Sir, I shalt protest: thou hast given a Scalia for a Scalia; a very Scalia ! I want no Antonins. Nor eat I vile scallions. Hast thou no shame ?”
His mom.
Gorsuch is one of the current crop of neo-conservatives who hasn’t figured out (at least publicly, for political reasons) why religion is at the root of much strife in the world today. Great choice, that being the only obvious drawback with him.
So, it appears that Mr. Gorsuch doesn’t have that clear a record on abortion issues. I don’t find that particularly reassuring. He is a Scalia fanboy, by his own testimony, but even that may not be worrisome, if he were to clarify. Which he doesn’t seem to have done.
The fanatic “pro-life” wing of the right? Are they celebrating? Do they see him a just want they wanted? And if so, why? The Trumpiviks know who they are and want they want, would they dare to disappoint them? Even assuming that they were willing to.
Not at all. My comment was in reference to some Democrats’ resistance to Gorsuch. As it is merely replacing one conservative with another the balance of SCOTUS would not be altered. Now if all this fuss was relating to the replacement of a liberal Justice it would be more understandable (though equally futile).
I think the Dems should resist, just to bust balls and should say that is why.
The Repubs busted Obama’s balls over the SC, they were promising to bust Hillary’s balls, so let’s have some fun with them for a change.
Why the hell not. Tit for tat.

](Trump Hails Gorsuch As Fierce Protector Of Future Amendment Allowing President To Temporarily Suspend Right To Assemble)This source has been prophetic before…
Oh, fuck no.
It’s The Onion, a parody site.
That said, let’s pretend it’s real for a moment:
If the Constitution were amended to grant the executive branch the power to halt all public protests, then what possible basis would a federal court have to do anything OTHER than safeguard that as the law of the land? It would be, in fact, the supreme law of the land. It would modify the First Amendment guarantee of assembly.
Right?
There’s no such thing as an unconstitutional provision of the Constitution.
I think he knows that…but did you click on his 2nd link? …It was pretty prophetic about the last Republican nightmare (relinked for your clicking pleasure). It probably has a better track record than all conservative pundits put together.
Well the people have spoken. So really, Hillary should select the justice.
The only thing Hillary will be selecting in future is what pantsuit to wear each day.
The difference is that the Republicans held the Senate majority when Scalia died during the Obama years, and they still have the Senate majority now. Ball-busting is significantly harder as the minority, especially if the filibuster vanishes.
He ruled for Hobby Lobby on the Tenth Circuit, before that appeal was shot down by the Supreme Court. While not about abortion per se, the case certainly dealt with an issue that is closely related.
I’m a bit confused, here, since I expected a nominee who was clearly and publicly antagonistic towards choice. I expect that the pro-life base that supported Trump also expected it, but maybe not so much as Trump didn’t seem eager to push that button at his rallies. So far as I can tell, none of the major pro-life orgs have commented on the nomination. Curiouser.
National Right to Life web page notes the nomination of Gorsuch, naming “pro-life President Trump” and offering transcripts of his and Gorsuch’s speeches, and nothing in the way of editorial opinion on the fact.
My guess is that they don’t know if they are happy about it, or not. Or, if happy, how happy?
They have til the end of the first trimester to decide.
However I wish Messers Trump and Gorsuch could have been a little more effusive about each other.
