Before I met him, my ex Matt from Toronto used to be an evangelical Christian; like, one of the really really crazy sects. He almost got drawn into an ex-gay program, but thank the Goddess realized what was going on and got himself out of both the program and the religion.

You guys don’t understand, we can’t determine if he’s either with the evidence presented. It’s not a sampling of his mental denseness because we haven’t looked at all his other posts to see if he’s an ass in them too. We were just refered to these posts by people who are trying to make the argument that he’s a mental case, not people who are against the idea, so obviously… lmao

Polycarp, I’ve been busy in Order Here First responding to ghoti since he returned. Also, the SDMB, to be frank, means more to me than The Pizza Parlor. But I’ll get to you eventually.
When I was 16, our class got a replacement teacher for Economics. He started to tell about himself, and explained his religion. He was part of a very conservative christian group called a Pinkstergemeente (I don’t know the exact English phrase. It literally translates to “Pentecost Community”. Does that make sense?). He continued to explain, using a well-liked English teacher (who happened to be gay) as an example, that he couldn’t sit down in the teachers room next to a gay person. His “religion” prohibited him from even conversing with gays.
I stood up and called him an ignorant shithead.
He threw a hissy fit, and tossed me out to meet the school principal. I explained why I felt compelled to stand up and say something. The principal understood, and the replacement teacher was forbidden to EVER discuss his “religion” on school premises again.
I’m still proud I did that. I dunno, I just thought it would fit in here.

I know that I should start a new thread for myself, and the fact that I tried to engage in a debate with puddleglum without searching for a thread like this.
But I just wish they could be honest, that they think that “race” means anything and that they would come out and admit that their argument is plain racist and bigoted.
