Pull my finger for August (monthly mini rants)

Mix the limeade 50/50 with club soda over ice. I get what you mean about the taste, but cutting it with club soda or seltzer makes it much better.

I’ve had covid for over a week now. had an off and on fever for 4 days but then felt fine. I’m seriously over the isolation thing. I spent a couple days on my boat just to get out of the house, but it’s raining now so no fun out there. Netflix is getting thin. I might resort to Korean rom-coms soon. When will I test negative??

I take a bottle of Simply Limeade, pour out one cup. Add one envelope cherry Koolaid. Add one cup vodka. Shake well. Drink.

Thanks for the interesting suggestions! My own thought is to just cut it with a large proportion of either vodka or gin (or tequila if I had any). Lemonade is such a good thirst-quencher that it seems to demand being consumed on its own, but the limeade has the potential to be a good drink mixer.

BTW, “Simply” is the brand of lemonade I like so much. I thought it was a small-ish Canadian company, but in fact it’s US based and the brand is owned by Coca-Cola. I don’t care – I still say it’s really good.

Currently enjoying a Wolfpup Lime Special – 1/3 Absolut Swedish vodka, 2/3 limeade, and lots of ice. I’d sit out on the patio to enjoy it but it’s too damn hot!

So my instincts were right – limeade does have a use as a mixer! I might pick up some tequila next time just for that purpose.

No doubt would be equally lovely with a good run or gin. It’s an equal opportunity mixer!

I’ve never used limeade as a mixer but lime juice goes so well with alcoholic drinks that it doesn’t surprise me.

I might even grab some limeade at the grocery store later today.

Please, no “healthy lifestyle” advice – not even in the subtle form of an alleged typo. I don’t run, I don’t jog, I don’t do marathons. I do exercise, though – I walk (slowly) to my front porch, where I sit down and drink.

If it’s too hot or too cold, I stay inside and drink. Which is preferable, due to a shorter walk.

Good g*d! Not an alleged typo, a genuine oops, honest. I would never suggest a thing, rum and gin are two of my favorite flavors of self-care, to be encouraged at all turns.

I rarely even amble all the way out to the porch anymore. My oxygen tubing gets caught in the door.

When life hands you limeade, make margaritas.

I’d like to hire you as my personal trainer. That’s a regimen I would sign up for!

This isn’t worth its own thread (yet) but I could not let this lie:

I find them abrasive and uninformative. @Gatopescado

Well, he does admit:

Which he proves with reviews like:

Disclaimer- I have not read the thread

Yesterday, my shikseh took me grocery shopping. Ya see, there are no standard supermarkets within walking distance. Every month Jewish Family Services gives me a $50 Shoprite gift card. I have to take 2 buses to get to Shoprite on my own as I have no car. I bought a bunch of food (as one is wont to do at a supermarket).

This morning, the gallon of milk tastes really off. I bought it yesterday. The expiration date isn’t for a week or so. I don’t think it would be a good idea to drink the rest of it. It upsets me a great deal because it’s such a minor minor thing and should not have happened.

I just checked the bag of Wise popcorn I bought on sale. I forgot to look for a kosher symbol. There isn’t one. The ingredients include something called “medium chain triglycerides”. So I’ve wasted money on food I cannot eat.

Well, I just don’t take things so seriously. I’m here for the entertainment, and @Gatopescado can be counted on to chime in with something unexpected.

me and people who like lime … although i mix lemon and limeade tho …

lol, K-drama is much better … they make English-speaking soaps and telenovelas look calm by comparison …

on the catfish, if you’ve ever watched the muppets… remember those two grumpy old guys? if you put them together you’d get him …I think it’s just a sthick tho

The lack of a kosher symbol only means that the company opted not to pay for the certification. It doesn’t mean the product wouldn’t be declared kosher had they paid the very large fee.

I hope you will return it and get your money back.

Inca Cola (the Golden Cola) is not certified kosher. I couldn’t see any reason on the ingredients. So I searched the net. The answer was exactly as you’ve posted. None of the ingredients are inherently unkosher. However, Inca Cola is sold mainly in south america and apparently there aren’t enough Jews in their sales area to justify the expense.

On the other hand, triglycerides are animal fat. The ingredient list on the popcorn also says “contains milk ingredients”. The mixture of animal fat and dairy is inherently unkosher.

Most likely, I’ll just bring the popcorn to some event with friends and let them eat it.

ETA Huh triglycerides can also be from plant sources. The quest for answers goes on.
