For me they were too buttery and not lemony-spicy enough, so I had to adjust them the second time around. I put in more spices than the recipe called for and they turned out okay.

The snow melted and left us with frozen rain/sleet and gray dampness all 'round. I do wish I had a good book to pass the time. No plans to do anything tomorrow–I amy even spend the day in bed, recuperating.
I haven’t had a chance to catch up, but I feel I must share this story with you all.
A few short hours ago, I was on the phone with my Grandma as she packed to leave tomorrow for a trip to Hawaii. Apparently, she was listening to the radio and someone called in to say that it was snowing in Hawaii. (I don’t know if this actually happened or if she misheard or what. But, she seriously thinks it’s snowing on Oahu.) So, when she answered the phone, she was looking for her snow boots to pack in her suitcase–to go to Hawaii. So, I got on the 'puter and looked up the weather in Honolulu, over the next week the highs rang from 82-84 and the lows from 71-72. As I patiently explained this to her, she reiterated several times that “the lady on the radio said it was snowing in Hawaii.” It was so so so hard not to LOL at her because she was so serious. I think I finally convinced her that it is in fact not going to snow while she is there, so she doesn’t need to bring her winter boots.
Now, it’s also worth telling you that my Grandma is 64 years old, a little eccentric, but not suffering from dementia of any sort. And yet she was still convinced it was snowing on Oahu. Grandma also lives in Kankakee, IL (60 miles or so South of Chicago), where there currently is a blizzard. I could totally see her needing her snow boots to wear now or even to wear to the airport, but no, she wanted to pack them in her suitcase.
I’m a little incredulous at this even now. I love my Grandma; she’s one of my best friends–and always good for a chuckle, even if I have to wait until I’m off the phone to laugh.
Fun fact: Although there isn’t snow in Hawaii, there are wallabies! It’s true! Although native to Australia, a couple of them escaped from a zoo many many years ago and actually established a colony. They’re now native in Oahu.
Oh yeah, FCM, she’s still around. In fact, she’s a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The few times we actually go out to the casino, we have to drive past her walled property. She was in the local news not too long ago, but I can’t remember why, and I’m too lazy to look it up. I do remember that she was pissing off several people in the community, though.
I went and worked out, but my heart just wasn’t in it tonight. I’m just feeling sort of icky and didn’t push myself as hard. Oh, I used more weight on some of the machines, but I only managed to go just under two miles around the track. I worked my legs, arms, and abs on the machines, did some bench pressing, and also worked out on the rowing machine. However, after the track, I just felt sort of, I dunno, pukey, so I went home. I still managed to get an hour and a half in, so I guess that’s good.
I’ve got an on again, off again, toothache going too. Christ, when it comes on it’s hard to think about anything else. I’ll have to visit the dentist, but I know it’s not going to be cheap. It’s the last thing I need right now, because I’ve got other bills to pay.
rigsy, everytime I see “DAC” in one of your posts, I have to stop and think. You see, to me, it means “Department of the Army Civilian”, which is what I am.
Ugh, I’ve got to find some Motrin or something. The toothache is coming on again.

Personally I am terrified of the dentists. Which is exactly why I’ve just gotten back in the habit of going to routine 6 month checkups. I just got a dental night guard fitted yesterday morning. $450. Not cheap, but I’d much prefer preventative maintenance rather than serious work needing to be done.
I’m getting a wisdom tooth pulled next week. Can someone go with me and hold my hand?

And I don’t answer to mom any more than one should. She coordinates holiday get togethers for the immediate family and since I can usually have a pretty good time at the fam parties, I try to make them. Easter, Xmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
My buddy and I went to a drum and bass ‘event’ at a bar tonight here in Telluride. I danced around and bought a round and danced around and bought a round…etc. I’m ready to get home tomorrow.

I woke up at 4 on the insistence of my bladder, but then went back to sleep till almost 7 - yay! Scruffy is tormenting Taz - the 2 of them are running all over the place. They’re insane. Bernie is on walkabout - she seems to know when I’m wearing slippers instead of shoes and she heads immediately into the deepest wooded part of the yard. I know she’ll be back shortly, but I hate for her to be wandering loose. Partly because dogs should not run unleashed, partly because she’s an old lady and she could get hurt. So once again, it’s back to the leash for her when I take her in the yard. Stoopit dog…
It’s very grey and overcast - we’re supposed to get rained on today. **FCD ** is going to repack the bearings on the trailer axles. I need to make a trash/recycling run. And do laundry. And I’d like to get the leaves cleaned out of the garden right in front - if it doesn’t get done today, it won’t get done till I’m back. We shall see.
We’ve also got to move the boat this weekend. We’ve been in another guy’s slip because it’s a better slip than ours. But he’s going back in the water soon (he’s been in the yard doing some major overhauling), and since I’ll be gone next weekend, we need to move now. We’re hoping to get some dead-calm, windless time to do it, since backing into our regular slip is, um, a challenge when it’s windy. If we had $4000 lying around, we could move to the updated marina where we wouldn’t have to back in. But thanks to the stoopit kid and her stoopit college and her stoopit wedding…
Maybe if we budget this year, we can move next year. We shall see how that goes.
Anyway, I’m up and caffeinating. So begins my day…

Today we mow. YeeHaa! Yeah, some of y’all are talkin’ about snow but I know of two yards that need mowin’ so mow we shall. This afternoon. Grass is all wet now cause there was a really heavy fog earlier but it’s gone now.
Oh and I need to make food like substances for tomorrow, bein’ as people will be here around one tomorrow afternoon expectin’ food. Ham, sweet N.O.T. (en casserole), green beans, deviled aigs, collards (already cooked!), a corn/hominy casserole (it’s teh yum!), steamed squash, rolls and nanner puddin’. Now y’all see why I need to motivate? 'Twill be a dang good Easter feast!
