Purim -- a drunk (but not Irish!) MMP

Meh… Galil’s are soooo 20[sup]th[/sup] century… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s the Negev where it’s at, now :smiley:

(although, to inject a note of seriousness, I wish we needed neither)

Isn’t it ironic after all these years of persecution that the Jews managed to make, like, the most badass weapons ever?

KInda funny one of the google ads is for a hijack remover. :smiley:

{{{MBG}}} I just hope things work out right for ya. Come vent. Come talk. We’re here for ya, ok?

Easter dinner (remember I’m from the southern USofA, so big meal, middle of day = dinner) was nummy! Everyone feasted and declared it good. Dishes got put in the dishwasher as soon as people left. I turned the dishwasher on and went and took a nap. Thus, dishes are all washed and await bein’ put back in their little homes. Guess I should do that shortly.

That’s all I got for now.

It means a lot that you share all of this with us. :: hugs ::

I’m getting ads about belly fat. :confused:

Special1, I dunno what my parents would say to that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just saw my first bug in like 4 months.

Summer is a’comin’ in…!!

{MBG}

My Easter ain’t going so well either, I just learned something that makes me want to drink until I forget. Unfortunately I volunteered to work tonight so a mother could host Easter for her kids.

I guess it’s better that way, but damn, it’s always the holidays ain’t it.

Mouse, I’ll get back to you later, my car needs work, and I’m taking it in tomorrow morning. All plans are dependent on state of vehicle.

{{{{{{MBG}}}}}} - I hope you’re able to work through things okay. And remember that the Mumpers are indeed here for you.

It’s an early Easter this year, so probably no surprise that kaiwik got snow - there’s snow in the midwest too, I think. I’m going to get my chocolate bunny tomorrow, when (hopefully!) there’s Easter candy on sale!

I made lamb stew today, in the crock pot, with onions, potatoes and carrots. Just tasted some and it is simply marvelous, NUM! I used a couple of shoulder blade chops and some meat that was labeled “lamb for stew” - that meat had a lot of bones in it, but after cooking in the crock pot it’s all pretty much fallen off the bone. I shall have to try Trader Joe’s legolamb, though.

The stew will be for later this week - dinner tonight is spiral sliced ham, brussel sprouts, and rolls.

It’s very delish.

Reading what you guys make for dinner makes me feel that I have not yet truly become an adult. :slight_smile: I only bother to make anything if someone else is here, and even then dinner consists of Cloud Maiden and me sitting in the living room with plates balanced on our laps.

I think whoever is controlling the ads realizes you’re possibly the only person left in North America who can afford some more… :slight_smile:

Eh, as long as you’re cool, I’m sure we can handle your parents. :wink:

My wife, OTOH… :eek:

Oh well… it’s still fun to play “fantasy” on the Internet :smiley:

**MBG **-- Can I hope things are looking salvageable? In any case, echoing everyone else’s sentiment – this is the place to vent. If we can’t help a friend when they’re down, the whole MMP isn’t worth it!

Oh, how I miss Trader Joe’s! sob

{{{{{MBG}}}}}

For some reason, people aren’t making their vacation arrangements on Easter. Gee, I wonder why. I almost never drink coffee during the day, but I may have to so I can stay awake until I can go home!

Things are salvageable. She wants that and I do too, but it’s going to depend on me. She wants us to go out tomorrow night for a usual “monday night outing”

(good sign)

By bedtime, I’ll be Xanax-clear enough for a beer or two.

I emptied the dishwasher. All the dishes are now back in their little homes. Just thought y’all would like to know that.

I’ve got rolls, ham and swiss cheese. I’m thinkin’ a couple of rolls toasted with some ham and a little melted swiss cheese would be nummy.

{{{{MBG}}}}
(Although now I’m chanting “Xanax clear! Have a beer!” I’m weird like that. :smiley:

It’s definitely spring down here in the Kakalak. Know how I know? My car is yellow. When I got it in January it was green and tan.

swampy, you’re a step ahead of me. I ran the dishwasher, then opened the door when it was done so it would all dry. I may put it all away today. Or tomorrow. I dunno.

Apart from the laundry this morning, it’s been a mega-lazy day. **FCD ** did wax his car, but I didn’t do anything apart from cook. Good day.

**MBG ** - all the best wishes I can muster are headed to you and your wife. I’m sure you’ll get things all figured out.

It’s spring here - I saw a robin! YAY! Too bad the weekend is over. On the other hand, my sorta-vacation starts on Saturday, so there’s that.

My toe feels better, but it’s completely purple now. :frowning: I might have trouble wearing my new shoes tomorrow. <pout>

I’m getting so hungry! It smells so hammy in here. I’m using a Nigella Lawson recipe, boiling a big ol’ ham in Coca-Cola for two hours. Then you take it out, let it cool a bit, then peel off most of the fat layer. Then coat it in molasses, mustard powder and brown sugar, and bake for about 10-15 minutes. Heaven! (She says to put the little whole cloves all over into cut diamonds, but “pphht!” I say to that!) And we’re having N.O.Rosie’s N.O.Taters. Rosie was a friend of my Mom’s who invented the recipe, but Mom improved on it. A few years ago the original Rosie called me for the recipe! Cool! It’s basically scalloped potatoes - white sauce, Velveeta, sliced green onions, and sour cream poured over sliced N.O.T.'s and baked for an hour. Yum!

<pause>

I’ve been out surveying Mr Rebo’s work. (He asked me to!) He’s built a wall around our new tree. Gorgeous! Our competitive next door neighbor said as he was leaving, “Toi <his wife> is getting all kinds of ideas! The wall is lovely.” :smiley: Yay! We’re gonna have the best looking front yard in the neighborhood! Did I tell you we have new bushes? I guess it’s time for more pictures. I’ll take some this week.

Ok - I better go finish up dinner. Asparagus and crescent rolls, too. I’m starving!

(Oh, yeah. Haze - we eat in front of the TV with our plates balanced on our laps. Dad eats at the table like a grown-up, though. ;))

Tell me about it! Though the pine pollen is almost settled down now, bein’ as I’m a leetle further south. In a couple of weeks I’ll be out on the back porch and around the pool scrubbin’ off yellow stuff. For now I’ve just been wipin’ down the porch chairs and hosin’ off the porch every week or so. When I get out to wash down the walls and all it’ll be a little yellow river a flowin’ off’n my porch. I don’t have pine trees in my yard. Wish my neighbors would keep their dang pine pollen in their yard. After all they are the ones with all the pine trees!

Speakin’ of Spring, my lizards are back! So far there’s been no lizardly fornicatin’ goin’ on on the back porch (that I’ve seen at least) but I’m sure Liz, Ard, Fred and Ethel will at some point in time put on a show for me. :smiley:

And now in other news…

I just took a shower. See, all day long I’ve been smellin’ this weird smell from time to time. Couldn’t figure it out. A little bit ago I discovered, it’s me! :eek: Well, not me but incense from church this mornin’. I changed clothes when I got back home but I was still wearin’ the tshirt I put on when I got dressed for church waaaaaaaaaaaaay early this mornin’. I caught a whiff of the strange smell and was thinkin’… hmmmmmm… smells like incense. Then it dawned on me. :smack: So I sniffed my tshirt and sho’ nuff! I am now all de-incensed.

Oh and ol’ y’all know who redeemed himself somewhat. He got up at seven this mornin’ and put the ham in the slow cooker and got it to bakin’. Plus, he took the already made up but not yet cooked casseroles out of the fridge at eight so they could get the chill off of ‘em. I don’t like takin’ things right from the fridge and stickin’ ‘em in a hot oven. It’s another one of my little quirks one just has to learn to love. So, he got points for helpfulness to get him on the road to redemption for bein’ a heathen this mornin’. At some point I’ll grant him absolution. :wink:

I remember the pine pollen in Georgia! My dark blue car practically looked green for a while there every spring. I do not miss it. The trees were otherwise great, but the pollen, oy.

well - the good news is I could (almost) pronounce all the words - but

DUDE! :eek:

Well, we kinda had to, didn’t we.

Why don’t you see about opening a franchise. I’d bet you could do enough business during peak (hee!) season to carry you through off season.

I win! My dishes never got dirty to begin with! :smiley:

{{{{BusDude}}}} - Venting here is easy, and theraputic. Please always feel you can turn to us.

I spent another weekend is Slugsville, in spite of all good intentions. :sigh: Off to edit and polish.

eta - some kids are shooting off fircrackers on the street - :confused: for Easter???

The soil’s so poor out here, pines are the dominant tree. It’s a good thing Zeldadog is yellow otherwise I’d be dusting her off every day.

I saw the first lizards of the year yesterday on the back wall of the house. Soon Petercat will have his little reptile buddies to stare at as he suns at the back door.

Any time is a good time for firecrackers!

Back from MIL’s place. Dinner was ham, tater salad, fruit salad, green bean casserole, deviled aigs, and rolls. It was good, but I took small portions and didn’t eat seconds. I also skipped dessert.

It’s very windy and rainy outside. I’m glad to be home.

We watched *I am Legend * over at the MIL’s place. It was a pretty good movie, but sad.

MBG, I’m glad the wife wants to salvage things. I hope everything works out for both of you. More hugs to you and feel free to vent. I found this place extremely therapeutic and received a lot of empathy and support from various Mumpers during my own bit of personal hell last month.

The kids came home with metric buttloads of Easter candy. I have been very, very good and not touched a bit of it.

Well, I guess I should get some laundry going.
